The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Video Game Thread - Part 7

Well, it's unacceptably short, sometimes annoying, ugly and unpolished. But if you like Spider-Man, then I suppose you will find it enjoyable.

Going to have to lower my score on it. After beating the game and going back to free roam I spent some time on WoS, needless to say you guys are right about momentum and bottom of the arc swing. Why cant they just hire Shaba back, give them 3 years and a big budget access to all spidey games engines and boom

I was talking about the web swinging not being revolutionary. Of course SM2 was revolutionary for its time with being the first open world hero game. But the swinging was very basic if you look back at it. It was fun but I even prefer the one found in TASM2 to it because it lacked swinging animations and didn't obey the laws of physics that much (you could float in certain points while swinging which instantly destroyed all immersion for me).
Sure it was revolutionary for its time but games like SM3 or WoS topped it IMO (although SM3 sacrificed speed for realism). The double webline feature they had was also incredibly hacky so I never bothered using it.

And was for SM3 being expensive, that probably has to do with the fact that it's not being produced anymore. Same goes to Shattered Dimensions etc., prices rise due to license being gone ending all support for them.

You realize that SM2 had two swing setting right? Normal and Easy. Easy was ****. Normal was full of awesome.

Here is my "review"

So, I've been barely playing it and somehow I'm at 12 or 14 completed Main Missions...
WTF!
How in their right minds could they charge full price for such a short ass game????
There was also no explanation as to how Max became Electro, no cut-scenes, nothing. He starts out in OsCorp as a hostage and then the next time you even hear about him is when you fight him...

The Hero/Menace bar drops very quickly. Yet takes forever (slight exaggeration) to fill up or even refill.

The pointless "Cut-Scene" every time you Pass or Fail a Mini-Mission.
The Camerawork is bad.

The "Auto-Aim" never works properly except for in the Electro fight.
The Kingpin fight is very hard, much harder than it needs to be. I felt like I needed a 3rd hand...
- 1 for running, one for Spider-Sense/Jumping, Webbing and a 3rd just to keep the camera where it needed to be so that I could see what was going on, but also to use the Auto-Aim...

I was actually excited for this game, but it's really terrible.

I seriously do NOT recommend this game to anyone.

I'm just playing this for free roam.
I think I'll be doing this from now on.
The Web-Slinging is the only enjoyable part...
I'll stay in Menace Mode because it's too damned frustrating to even try and get Hero Mode.

just replay a mission before the task force is introduced. I think you'll still have all your upgrades so you can still use boost and you wont have to worry about doing crimes. you can web sling to your heart's content with no interruptions.

I think it's kinda cool how you can find references to all the Sinister Six in this game, through the photo missions.

so i was curious to know if the graphics differed from the ps3 to ps4 version? i currently just have my ps3

What's so hard in this fight? There is a simple way to defeat him by using seismic web and then dodging his charge so that he gets stuck into the wall and becomes vulnerable to your attacks. It suffice to repeat these steps a few times and Kingpin goes down.

No difference as far as I've seen. But it apparently does have a smoother framerate and it's 1080p with a bigger draw distance on the PS4.

The only thing annoying in this fight are his goons. It's a pain in the ass to take them down, when the camera constantly locks onto Fisk, instead of the soldier, who's armor you want to degrade with your webbing. And it doesn't help that you move back into Fisk's attack range, as you try to counter the soldier's attacks.

I could pin-point my hate for the story. No damsel in distress, not a single person you care about. Gwen is mentioned once, Harry could fill that role but he ruins his chances by being so ignorant instead of listening. Aunt May is safe and sound in Queens. It's all about Spidey, no personal Peter relationship involved other than Ignoosborn.

Is the city better than in the last game? Does it feel like a New York?

Possibly on PC but definetely not on Xbox 360 judging from the videos I've seen.

Graphics are actually acceptable on PC at full settings, stuff starts to look wonderful!

I have the PS4 version pre-ordered but didn't get it yet. I hope that is very close to the PC version.

I'm in your EXACT same shoes lol. Definitely picking it up tonight though!

How is the draw distance? Can you see the mast of the Empire State Building from a far?

It's horrible. I play this game with all graphics properties on maximal level and yet I can see how many textures are being loaded at the time I'm swinging by. Cars, trees, people, sometimes bigger object - it's getting annoying since they're not so far from me and still aren't displayed correctly.

There was a guy on NeoGAF who had the PS4 version and posted a few screens:

No mast it seems.

I'd say the PC version has a bit more visible but it's also horribly optimized in terms of CPU/GPU usage. My CPU is only being used 25% and GPU 50% which makes it kind of impossible to hit maxed out settings with locked 60fps (and I need my 60fps on PC freeroaming).

The Auto-aim for one, It either locks constantly onto Kingpin or not at all.
Yet in the very next boss battle against Electro, it works Flawlessly.
