Had to binge at least the first four… woah.

One was a masterpiece, two was soooo good. Three was next level stressful. And four, ****.

Carmy leaving that voicemail for Cousin and not Claire is a 10/10 joke.

I insist that you get ****ed, my good man.

Josh ****ing Hartnett.

COUSIN ****TING ON MICHELIN STARS BECAUSE ITS AN INFERIOR TIRE COMPANY IS HILARIOUS

Also, I was trying to be fancy this week leading up to the new season;

I watched the first 5 and my god this season is wild.

The first episode is so insane, I don't think I've ever seen it done on a tv show. Denis Villeneuve and Chris Nolan would give it a 10/10. It might turn casual fans off though.

The second episode is a wild bottle episode that I didn't expect them to do so early.

Of course Josh Hartnett is Tiff's new fiance

and of course John Cena is a Fak

On the strength of that oddly satisfying opener, I’m going to be saying “yes chef” for 24 hours.
I gotta tell you, I've only watched the first episode so far (gonna start the rest soon) and that was the perfect one to watch before bed last night without jumping into the season fully. It's like if a "Previously On..." recap for a show was an art form.

Finished it, the Natalie episode or the Tina episode or even the recap episode might be the pick for next year's Emmys. I think this is the season where some people probably will have a slight backlash because of how "repetitive" the storyline progressed and especially how it ended on a cliffhanger of sorts. To me, this feels like an epic mixtape of previous storylines and it's super keen on perspective and life and death stuff. It's obvious they're setting up the 4th season with this so they do a lot of wandering around trying to keep this ship from not sinking. And some people will say this season is super reliant on cameos but to me those work even more because they all do something with them like the Natalie episode. Overall, loved it tho.

I'm also very curious about that very last title card and knowing they shot seasons 3 and 4 back to back... is The Bear season 4 coming end of this year?

Just finished binging this and man I seriously can't wait for Season 4. This definitely felt like a great first half of a season IMO and the cliffhanger honestly didn't bother me because I knew how it was going to end.

Halfway through this I was kind of debating between episodes 5 and 6 as to which one was my favorite but then episode 8 comes along and that might have been the most anxiety I've felt watching any show.

I was expecting something really messed up/dark to happen at some point because of how intense it got and I definitely have to give props to Abby Elliot and JLC because their acting was top tier.

Also, the Josh Hartnett/John Cena cameos were awesome lol.

For those unaware, the Chefs mentoring Carmy in the premiere are not actors. They are global culinary royalty from Thomas Keller of the French Laundry to Daniel Boulud of Daniel and Rene Redzepi of Noma. And all of these scenes are filmed at the real restaurants.

If you know gastronomy, seeing Carmy trussing a chicken at the French Laundry is OMFG.

Dude, you actually cooked these? Respect on both the food and photography. The plating on the duck breast is especially nice.

If you want to take it up to the next level, try peeling the stems on the asparagus and plating the breast sliced on the bias. It shows off the contrast of the crispy brown seared skin and pink medium rare interior.

I loved it… just finished. Holy moly.

So many emotions and feelings.

After finishing it late last night, I wouldn't rank it above the first or second seasons but I still loved it.

There was no one episode this season that stood out to me as much as Review from S1 or Fishes from S2 but I did really love the Season 3 opener, the Tina episode and the Natalie episode where Abby Elliott and Jamie Lee Curtis just killed it for 40 minutes straight.

The Tina episode actually might be my favorite one from S3 because it took maybe the most overlooked character in the show and gave her such a relatable story that you just get immediately invested in. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when she first saw The Beef and I started getting emotional when Mikey reached out as her shoulder to cry on.

Also shout out to this for being the second Ayo Edebiri project in the same month to feature such a realistic depiction of a panic attack.

and of course John Cena is a Fak
If he was a true Fak they'd have given him some facial hair. :o

I say this as a Cena fan, but his cameo was the only one that took me out of the show a bit, as funny as it was. The other cameos we've seen in this show like Odenkirk, Mulaney, Hartnett, etc. felt more natural.

Dude, the finale had needle drop after needle drop.
I loved the "Laid" singalong they were having. I also loved seeing Olivia Colman letting loose and embracing her inner PC Doris Thatcher again in that scene.

With Storer's sister being a chef, the show is usually pretty spot on when it comes to industry stuff, but Carmy's whole strategy for getting a Star has a big issue with it.
Carmy decides he wants to change the menu every day as part of his non-negotiables. There are some big name restaurants that do that. However, a big part of getting Stars is consistency. Constantly changing the menu and experimenting completely undermines that.

That sort of experimental approach is a big part of the reason why Noma took over a decade to go from Two to Three Michelin Stars despite being named by other organizations as the World's Greatest Restaurant.

By constantly changing the menu, Carmy completely undermines The Bear's ability to develop consistency. The show does a great job of that problem, but it is so weird to me that Carmy even tries to go there. Yes, we know he is a mess this season, but I would at least expect Syd to call him out on it more directly.

I watched the first three episodes (how do you guys blow through them so quickly?) So far so good, though the opener was kind of depressing, maybe it was just the music. Hope to get a few more in tomorrow.

Yeah I think he wanted to get a star as quickly as possible and Syd was kinda going with it even though I think she did call out on his BS. Also, I think Carmy only knows how to maintain a star but has no clue about how to get one or is in no shape to do so with his condition.

It's kinda like how DC was trying to quickly compete with Marvel by getting the Justice League up and going with BvS. You can't microwave success overnight and that's what he thought he could get away with.
