The best break up song

I Know It's Over-The Smiths

[YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XD5gR1put38[/YT]

Easily.

Yeah, this is the best one, but i think this is the only one on the thread i have heard, but i guess as it is so awesome. The great thing about it is that it plays like a suite with the very next song on the album, 'Never Had No-One Ever', it kicks in with barely a pause, barely a beat before the vocals start in on that song, so you can never really listen to one without the other(well in the old pre-i-pod random days you couldn't). If morrisey had that depressing doomsdaysayer rep before that, this sealed the deal. If you hopped back in a time machine to 1993, you would see a young me getting heavily into that album, and I always thought that part was the strongest, probably the smith's finest moment in it's sheer awe-inspiring depression, but even apart from the subject matter and the cliches that folk hit out with about Morrisey because of material like this, they are just great songs.

the Smiths have a lot of good break up songs.

Becks album Sea Change is like one big collection of break-up songs.

Cat Power - I'm not sure if she has any straight up break up songs, but her voice and her style certainly make some gorgeously sad love songs.

thats all i can think of for now...

I Sit Away-Boyz II Men
Kim-Eminem (if you're REALLY pissed about it.)
