The Best of The Timm Universe

sorry, it felt like a double bill but it ws actually the way of all flesh, single ep that i was referring to..

must have watched a cut up version of youtube that changed my mind.
I think that Metallo totally got the shaft on S:TAS. Yes, Way of All Flesh was very good, but after that Corbin ended up in three of the worst episodes of the series: Action Figures, Heavy Metal, and the worst one of all, Superman's Pal.

i never really watched it after that...

i also thought that matt hagan after feat of clay got a fairly bad innings in batman...

Also after heart of stone, i didn't see mr freeze making that much of an impact in batman. apart from that entry and also his cameo in batman beyond i can't think of any good eps with him in, not even his movie...

Joker's in like 50 episodes of the Timmverse. Mr. Freeze's whole story plays out in (let me see): Heart of Ice, Deep Freeze, the Sub-Zero movie, Cold Comfort, and finally on Batman Beyond with Meltdown. That's it. All good episodes if you ask me, but I guess once they gave him such an interesting origin, using him as a stock villain didn't feel right anymore, hence the small number of appearances.

I don't think the joker got as many eps as you may think, Sure he did feature in like 2 movies and a few double parters in Justice league but i doubt he was in more than 15 eps of batman altogether..

I say this because people complained about how often he showed up in The batman but he hasn't shown up anything like fifty times. I'm under the impression he's already shown up more times in the batman than he has in b:tas (not sure about the whole timmverse though)

we need a Timm channel don't we?
NOW you're talking my language
batman tas nightof the ninja/dayof the samurai
superman tas little girl lost[supergirl2-parter]
justice league the savage time, legends[the justice guild]

In my opinion Bruce Timm's cartoons gave us definative versions of not only the characters, like Batman, Joker, and others, but also their voices.

When I see a character done differently it seems wrong to me.

I can't imagin anyone else as the voice of Batman but Kevin Conroy (spelling?), anyone as the voice of Joker but Mark Hammil, Or the guy from Night Court, can't remember his name, as the voice of Two-Face, Clancy Brown as the voice of Lex Luther, the voice actor who did Brainiac, likewise with the Question on JLU, Darksaide and Mongul, Knightwing, same goes with almost every other character's voice.

When I am reading a DC comic I usually imagin those voices.

It would have been great if he could have animated the entire Doomsday story. including the fight between Doomsday and every other DC superhero like Blue Beetle, Fire and Ice, Guy Gardner, among others.
But I know that would make for too long a movie and they probably weren't allowed the rights to any of those characters.
Great cartoons.

Justice League rocked, too bad it got shafted by Cartoon Network so harshly during the last year of its existence.

My personal fave was one of the very last Unlimiteds, the one with Supergirl vs Green Lantern & the Legion of Super-Heroes.

i think night of the ninja and day of the samurai are in completely different leagues to one another...

night of the ninja is a superbly written episode with day of the samurai is a weak follow up where nothing much happens. The technique or spot that bruce even aquires the knowledge to isn't even evere used in JL or JLU, it would have been awesome to see him use that knowledge in future eps, or even have that body armour be part of his memorabilia in the batcave and have terry see it.

I say one thing. IMHO, Timm's series should be used as storyboards for future DC films.

i forgot to mention one, justice league comfort and joy

Every single episode of BTAS and Batman Beyond.

The origin saga, Brainiac, World's Finest, the Doomsday episodes (snas Supergirl) and when Clark Kent "dies" from STAS.

Never really got into JLA, though.

I recently watched Comfort and Joy, the Christmas episode of JL and I loved it.

Justice League/JLU : A Better World, Starcrossed, The Once and Future Thing, Question Authority, Epilogue

He had much more than a cameo in Batman Beyond.

Well I wouldn't exactly call him a villain in the episode.:cwink:

Meltdown was an awesome way to end his character. Definitely one of the best eps. of Batman Beyond:up:

True, but I think you know what I mean.

I just wish Timm and Co. would have explored more with Batman's rogues gallery. (I would have loved to see what had happened to Harvey.)

I was also disappointed that despite being mentioned frequently, Dick Grayson never made an appearance on the show.

that's a cameo....

a one off story that had very little bearing on the whole story development of that arc, bar the first showings of blight.

The focus of the episode was on him and whether or not could ever be redeemed. A cameo is a brief appearance. Freeze was in throughout the entire episode.

Watch it again.:o

Anyone else feel Timm's Greatest gift to the DC Universe as a whole was Batman Beyond?

Truly feel that is the best "post-Batman" Bruce Wayne story out there, take thank Frank Miller.
