Shazam The Billy Batson/Shazam casting thread

Shazchanning Tatum!

I second that. He could definitely play a kid trapped in the world's mightiest mortal's body. He's a got a big frame and with sufficient gym work would have a physique to at least stand beside the Rock and not look like his little sister.

Although the Rock is at least 6'3" (or even 6 '5" depending on which source you read).

I suppose the argument for Armie Hammer is on height, as he's definitely around 6'4" or 6'5", but boy he would have to seriously bulk up, or he'd just look like a lamp=post next to the Rock.

I still think Channing Tatum would be the better choice. IMO he's underrated as an actor, okay he's not the greatest actor, but he's not bad.

Benjamin Walker, played Lincoln in the vampire version. He's 6'3 pretty big dude, good actor too, did a stage pay with Cirian Hinds and Scarlett Johansson, and he played a good part in the HBO movie Muhammad Ali's Greatest Fight.

He very much looks the part. At 6'3, he'd be pretty compatible with The Rock.

Here he looks like how I would imagine him shouting "Shazam":

Vince Vaughn as Shazam

Umm... No.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Capt. Marvel/Shazam is supposed to look like a fully grown adult, but not someone well over 33 years old. Even transformed there's supposed to be a boyish quality to him. Some of these choices baffle the hell out of me.

Truer words have never been spoken. Anyway, Both Billy and Captain Marvel should be be played by unknowns. They have the Rock already so they don't necessarily need to cast known quantities. If there is a need to further stack the cast, the Wizard is probably the best candidate for casting a relatively big name, not those two.

If some how he eliminated his Scottish accent and got jacked to the level of his 300 days, Gerard Butler can have a physical presence like Dwayne and he has that likability factor as well.

Otherwise I like the idea of Channing Tatum or a ripped Taylor Kitsch.

What about suggestions for YOUNG Billy?
Dakota Goyo, Max Records - what do you actually think of these suggestions? Stop pretending they don't exist, but give a comment :)

I hope audiences today don't think that this movie ripped off the name of the lead character from a music recognition software.

My choice, as I made known before, is Chandler Riggs

He is a good age, at 15. Decent acting chops. Can pass as someone who could become Owain Yeoman, one of my chief choices for the adult Shazam. What's not to like.

Dokota Goyo is a good choice too. I certainly loved his performance in Real Steel. I reason I didn't pick him is that I hope he takes on the role of Jonny Quest somewhere down the line. LOL.

Max Records, at 17, is too old, I think.

Dakota was also young Thor. I like Narc's choices. Yeoman is my top choice for Captain Marvel/Shazam and Riggs is a good call for Billy

Owain Yeoman talks about his acting training background and British success in the US:

If you also watch him in this video below, he has that boyish golden age charm and joviality that would be appropriate to Shazam:

Dakota was also young Thor.
And Noah as a boy too :)
He should always play the young version of a hero. Please, cast him as Billy Batson, Prince Adam etc :woot: :woot: :woot:

I think Armie Hammer would be perfect as Shazam, yeah he will have to bulk up a bit, but what actors dont for a super-hero role nowadays? The one exception being The Rock of course.

I thought Hammer was good in the Lone Ranger, he had good charisma and great comedic timing IMO, I think he would be perfect.

Shazchanning Tatum!
-He was my first choice. And with the Rock as Black Adam, it would be neat for them to work together again, they had great chemistry in GI Joe. But with Tatum now playing Gambit, I'd rather Hamme get the part.

I suppose they will be looking for actors with comedic skills, so someone like Krasinsky or Hammer would be ok for the role. I like Krasinsky more

I remember Michael Trucco's name being put forward back when people were fan casting the Superman role in MOS. Could maybe work for Captain Marvel too. He's 6"3 and a decent actor.

One thing we need to remember about Armie Hammer is that he's already stated that superhero roles aren't really his thing.

"I’m not actually a big fan of superhero films. If you have a guy who is supposed to be invulnerable, then what’s the point?”

He would play Shazam in a heartbeat, especially if U.N.C.L.E. flops.

...if so, Benjamin Walker would also be a good pick, as he's done stand-up.

He doesn't come across like Shazam at all. I haven't really liked him in anything he's been in.

i like this casting choice

thought he did well in Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and he definitely looks the part. also helps that he's not a well known actor but that could change if he lands the part of Shazam/Captain Marvel

Yeah, it would be easy for Armie to bulk up....he already has a good frame. He also already has the experience working with a big screen presence type actors like Depp and Leo.....and working side by side with Cavill.

He would be a good choice as Shazam and to work alongside Rock. I think he would need to screentest with Rock to make sure the chemistry is right.
