Curious to hear everyone's thoughts on what they want from the upcoming 3hr Ultimate Cut version of the film. What kind of scenes are you hoping get put back in? What are you expecting of it? Do you think it will change your opinion of the film?

Very much looking forward too it, from my perspective, I hope that we get 'shape' around the African hostage scenes, clearly, there are gaps in that sequence on Superman's supposed 'killing', more Clark investigation on who Bruce is and really looking forward to the Malone 'reveal'.

My hope is it gives people the film they wanted from the cinematic version, personally I got it when I saw it in the cinema, others did not, clearly.

My opinion as such, won't change a huge amount, I loved it at the cinema, I will love an extended version.

I feel sad that others didn't get what I got from it first time round but my argument would be that any film, from any genre or view, would have it's narrative affected if 30 mins was taken from it's story structure and I hope for those people, it restores their faith.

For me, I am delighted with the film and love this DCEU journey we are on.

Can't wait for it, as it's going to be canon for this universe.

More Africa, more of the Bats v Supes fight, more Lex, more Doomsday fight, more Knightmare. I mean, come on, what else could we ask for.

I'm hoping for a more coherent narrative at least. The ultimate cut won't correct some of the mistakes in terms of characterisation, but I'm hoping it improves and makes sense of some of their motivations.

I get the distinct impression scenes were moved around in order to hang together a story for the theatrical cut, so I think the UC will have some of them in a different, more correct order.

However, I am also expecting more violence / killing from both protagonists, especially Batman. This will actually make the UC worse.

I hope there is a Kingdom of Heaven type scenario. Likely not to that degree, but certainly a more refined film. I feel like they knew thaat the movie was butchered in the editing room, hence why they started talking up the Ultimate Cut before the movie was released and review embargo lifted.

Yeah, if we get a "Kingdom of Heaven" situation I'll be very pleased. I liked the film a lot, but I can see where it suffered due to the run-time edit. In the interview with Collider (Frosty), Snyder made it seem like he surrendered the theatrical cut to the studio, so that he could everything he wanted for the director's cut. That was a stupid move, in my opinion, because the theatrical release is what the majority of people will see and what he and the film have been judged on.

Looking at production stills and press stories its seems like we're missing the following:

1. Lois meeting Jimmy/Africa scene fleshed out

2. More scenes with Lois and Clark at the apartment

3. Clark Investigating stuff in Gotham

4. Everything with Jena Malone as Robin or Batgirl

5. Longer Batman v Superman fight

6. More Lex Luthor scenes, specifically stuff from when he was a younger teenager

Feel free to add anything I'm missing...

Where are you getting that that is more Lois/Clark apartment scenes as well as young Luthor?

Also, Mark Hughes was all over twitter yesterday saying WB has confirmed to him personally several times thats it is NOT coming out on July 15th/16th as Amazon has it listed

Based on this picture and the hair he has here, I'm guessing there is more Lex footage out there:

Also there is a shot out there of Lois, kneeling to kiss Clark while he's sleeping in bed, in the "Art of Batman v Superman" or one of those companion books. Probably the day after the bath tub scene, before the Clark cooking breakfast scene.

I'm looking forward to that scene, and more Lois in general. :sly:

nice find...was this from the set?

Mark is under the impression it IS going to be released in theaters- I however am not so sure...but regardless there's nothing confirmed at all

30 minutes is A LOT of footage

The article with the editor talked about how in the UC we start tracking characters that are in the theatrical cut, but aren't tracked, which I find interesting, because I can't fathom what characters in the TC that we don't already track will have expanded roles...

I thought maybe Mercy, as well as that other Senator that is on the committee with Finch?(when he's chatting with Lex he says how "there are ways we can help each other" only we never find out how Lex is helping him

Beyond that, I can't really figure it out.

Honest question time! If the Ultimate Cut greatly improves the film, who do we blame for the theatrical cut? WB, Zack Snyder, or someone else?

Will be interesting to see how much of a difference in quality the UC makes to those who disliked the film. 30 min is definitely a lot! Looking forward to it a lot.

How come there aren't separate entries in IMDb, RT, etc for director cuts of films? I just checked Daredevil and Watchmen and the only ones rated are the theatrical releases. There should be separate entries.

The GA don't really care for Director's cuts. Not to mention a DC is just another way for studios to get you to double dip. If the 30 minutes improves the film than all we have left is to wonder why Snyder or WB felt compelled to chop up the film and release it like this? You only get 1 shot at making a good impression on the general audiences. So the excuse of putting out a lesser quality film while making fans wait several months for a directors cut is not smart for business.

An apology and a refund. :oldrazz:

Joking aside, Id really like to see Clark's investigation of Batman in Gotham.

It will sadly always come down to the amount of showings a studio can achieve in any one cinematic viewing day, that will determine the length (and thus final cut) of a film. A studio cares more about $$$ than creative quality sadly.

Certain directors can dictate their own movie length to as long as they please, such as James Cameron. But there's only a few that can get away with that.

Well that's obvious but it does bring up another point. Why put together a 3+ hour film if you're just going to chop it up? At some point, the director should understand this simple issue and not make a film that is so long that once it gets chopped up it doesn't hold up the way it was intended to.

Another concern would be what scenes from the director's cut might be referenced in films later on? The general audience that will never bother to watch the directors cut(myself included) could miss out on something important for future films. I'm not a fan of this approach at all. Snyder wanted to make his film while the studio decided his film was too long and needed to be cut. Now we'll end up with 2 different versions and the majority of the general audience will never bother to see the extended cut.

I'm also assuming we will see the scene where Clark uses his senses to try and find his mother before fighting Bats

They filmed a scene like that?

Is there a source for all the scenes that were filmed that were left off the theatrical release?

Zack Snyder confirmed that there was a scene cut from the Theatrical version where Supes tries to find Martha but he's unsuccessful because he starts hearing everyone else's cries for help too- he cut it because it was "quite dark" in his words

here he discuss some things that will be in the UC

Ah, that's right, the cries for help, I remember ZS mentioning that now. Thanks for the links

Probably a mix of all of them. The studio want to squeeze as many showings in as possible, the editor for butchering it and Zack for approving it I guess
