The Casey Anthony Murder Trial - Two Threads Too Many

But once again, that doesn't make Nancy Grace any less of a b***h.

Sadly that could be said for pretty much any tv host.

Perhaps...but Nancy Grace is far, far worse than anyone else on televsion when it comes to exploiting the deaths of children.

A murderer walks.

What else is new? The system we have is quite flawed. The very system we established and put in place prevents justice from being found at times.

Here, most of the blame belongs to the prosecution NOT to the jury. They failed to find a believable motive, and their closing argument was weak. In the end, the prosecutors took alot for granted, what else can be said?

I dont think you can come up with a better system than we have. Yes it has flaws but so does every other system. I rather we have this one than one where people can go to jail because they looked guilty or they felt he was guilty.

It won't be that hard for her going forward (which may be unfortunate, depending on how much one hates her). Her look is not that distinctive, if she moved to a big city she'd look like any number of "kind-of-pretty-but-not-really-memorable" women you see. A change of hairstyle and you couldn't pick her out from anybody else.

And changing her name is easy. She can either do it through the registry, or she's pretty enough to get any gullible old man to marry her and take her to Quebec or Europe. Or she can just go by a different name: lots of people use their middle name all the time instead of their first name, and just use their full name when signing legal and government documents.

Those are some good ideas. I think that's what she'll wind up doing. Of course shes got some offers on the table.. and a lawsuit.

There's a bit of a mob scene outside the courthouse:

Oh, I sincerely disagree. The system we have in place ensures those who have wealth, power, 'diplomatic' immunity, etc can escape justice. Which means those who operate in intelligence agencies, private security, political office, high levels of corporatism,... or even athletes & celebrities can avoid the full wrath of the system.

My view is if our government can get away with war crimes or a company can steal millions from the lower and middle class, then justice does not exist...

I have to say I kinda agree. This is why I listen to Rage against the Machine even though society trys to stop me.

But I'm also really annoyed at the phrase "Justice of Cayley", since it's a ******ed concept. When was wanting to murder someone's mom the same thing as giving them justice?

Or when they're found alive. What she did to Elizabeth Smart on her show was inexcusable.

We got Unions crashing, economy falling, employment plumetting, & this is the crap people choose to focus their energy on?

I misread 'Unions' as 'Unicorns' and got really scared for the unicorns.

What'd she do?

Elizabeth Smart came on her show to talk about a bill that would create a national sex offender registry. However, when the show came on, Nancy went straight for the horrible details of Smart's kidnapping years before. After several questions, Smart suggested that they talk about the bill. Nancy blew that off and asked another question about the details of her own kidnapping. Smart then suggested again that they talk about the bill, so Nancy rudely made a statement about she would assume that Smart would want to talk about her experience to educate people...and then went on to another guest.

The Duke rape case is what got me to hate Nancy Grace. When the stripper accused the Duke lacrosse team of gang raping her, Nancy had all the evidence she needed. Night after night after night she went on the air and proclaimed them guilty. She didnt need a trial or any facts. She showed their names and faces and declared them all guilty of rape. Then, the cops actually investigated the case and realized that none of the players had any sexual contact with her. They caught the girl in lies and eventually dropped all charges on the guys, taking the extra step of declaring them completely innocent, and began an investigation into the stripper for filing a false police report. That night Nancy Grace...well...she didnt do anything...she had a guest host that night and never mentioned the case again.

What'd she do?

Elizabeth Smart appeared on her show to talk about the Adam Walsh Child Protection bill, which was just signed into law. Elizabeth is now an advocate for missing children and victim's rights.

That's what she came there to talk about - the work she's doing now. Nancy Grace only wanted to speak about what happened to her when she'd been kidnapped, which was awkward and clearly making her uncomfortable, and she told her so, but Grace decided to press on.

This is how despicable it was:

It's also worth noting that when Elizabeth was missing, and a handyman who worked at the Smart house was a suspect, Nancy Grace essentially tried an convicted him as well.

And of course, it was the wrong guy.

Seems like folks spend a lot of time watching someone they hate.

It was amazing to me, as well as kind of sickening....that a reporter was reporting from the Kennedy Space Center, and as the LAST shuttle is lifting off they say..."and just down the road from here, only 55 miles is where the most watched trial ever took place.

I just shook my head...

I heard something now about "Porchlights for Caylee". Apparently people are supposed the leave their porchlights as some sort of tribute to Caylee.

I never got that. If they wanted to really do something...contribute to a charity, volunteer somewhere. Do something productive, at the very least.

Most of it is not the peoples fault though. The media wanted another OJ trial. Every news channel made sure this was talked about.

I won't deny this. It's actually the same with Howard Stern (at least it was back in the day) where the more you hated him, the longer you listened, to see what outrageous thing he'd say next.

Music is the same way. I hear people complaining all the time about how much they hate a singer or band...and generally it;s someone I've never heard. I think I've heard Miley Cyrus once, Lady Gaga I think I've heard twice. I simply dont listen to music I dont like...but apparently people do all the time.

Regarding me specifically though, I only saw the Elizabeth Smart thing online...and only tuned into Nancy after Casey Anthony was found not guilty so I could watch her melt down. I do not watch her on a nightly basis.

Soooo... because there's lots of other bad stuff going on in the country, we should be entirely unconcerned that an inept police force and prosecution team let a probable child killer go free?

Also, there's a politics board to discuss all that other stuff, and you'll find no shortage of topics or posts about all that stuff there.

Well just FYI, Nancy Grace wasn't the only one that attacked the Duke Lacrosse players and declared them guilty, the mainstream media basically did that when the case first came out. Also Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
