Okay, over the past year I've developed a real pallet for fine Cigars. And let me set the record straight, first of all. When I say "fine cigar", I don't mean a cigarello piece of stank trash from 7-11! I'm talking about quality import goods found only in your local smoke shop. Imports from fine countries such as the Dominican Republic, Niguaragua, Honduras, Puerto Rico, and if you can find them (though they're highly overhyped), Cubans.

But with a lot of my friends getting married and/or "growing up", I've gotten into the habit of having an occasional cigar in celebration, meditation, or just as a method of relaxation. And I've got to tell you, becoming a cigar connoisseur has been a fun & rewarding experience. With that being said, for a couple of months now I've wanted to open a cigar thread on the Hype where I myself (and hopefully others) can come and discuss the nuances of high quality tabacco tasting.

So with no further delay, allow me to open shop with a pic of one of my favorite Cigars, the Gurkha Legend.

Although I dont smoke cigars nearly as regular as I used to, I think I can chime in on this one.
As far as Al Capones-Man, I thought I was the only one who smoked those! I really love the taste of those-it is completely different than any other cigar or cigarillo-very sweet.

But, for the higher class (and higher dollar) cigars-the best I have ever had is the Fuente Fuente Opus X.

I also like Romeo and Julietas, but I havent had one that compares to the Opus X.

A few weeks ago, my good friend and one-time (literally ;)) Hyper came down to visit, and we both smoked an Hoyo de Monterrey Excaliber. It is a mid-priced cigar, maybe $5, and it had the fullest & most consistent flavor I've ever tasted - very Nutty. It was better than a lot of the $10-$15 varieties out there.

romio and julietas are my top fave cigars, my dads got quite the collection of fancy shmancy cigars...

I try to enjoy a Macanudo or a Cohiba or some other cigar at least once a month, in between all of my other various smoking activities. Actually Cohiba has a pretty nice little bar in Long Beach which isn't far from here. Interesting place to visit.

Yeah, my same friend usually swears by either the Romeo y Julietas or a Punch.

Personally, we both lavashed in a Punch Rare Corojo Maduro a few months back. It was heaven as well! Easily the best of the Punch series, and if you like Romeo Y Julietas, you'll LOVE the Punch series!

This particular cut came in an individual glass tube.

Back in college, when me and some friends smoked cigars regularly, they almost always got Punch cigars. I liked them okay, but for some reason, I preferred Upmann's a little better and the cost was about the same.
However, none of these compare to the Opus X I mentioned earlier-you guys should try it!

It's been so long since I've smoked one.
I'd get some when I'd go to Canada but I wasn't even focused on that when I was last there.

I was in Dallas for a high-class wedding last weekend. ANYWAY, my fiance's brother & my future father-in-law & I went to this smoke shop downtown. It was pretty nice I suppose. Anyway, I bought 3 big cigars, including a Gurkha which I still have saved at home.

But we scurried back to the hotel like little kids, and went out by the pool area for a cigar. Well.....the story ends badly! :(

I was going to town on this really dark cigar! The shop lady said it was the equivilant to the heaviest Cuban out there. And my fiance's brother, who's a complete cigar amateur, was going at his pretty heavy too. LOL

So we both ended up feeling sick for a couple of hours and couldn't get around in time for the wedding. We were late (but not really) to the wedding, and the night only started from there...

That's my latest cigar story. :)

I'm not an expert by any means, but I absolutely love the Hemingway from Arturo Fuente. I used to love going out for a nice dinner and having a "short story" after dinner. It was like a dessert of it's own.

You have good taste in cigars, Devil. That Opus X is fantastic. Romeo y Julietas are nice once in awhile as are a nice Macanudo or a Punch. I haven't had a cigar in a very long time. Been probably almost two years. Maybe at a friend's wedding in September I'll remedy that.

I'm looking forward to enjoying some sweet, GIANT cigars in celebration of my upcoming marriage!

The compulsive part of me wants to get sick smoking cigars before my wedding, but the experienced me has already done that twice before this year at my friend's bachelor party and at the high-class wedding of my fiance's cousin.

What do I do?! :csad:

:)

Stick a bit of skunk in there, make it worthwhile :ninja:

I've often thought I might enjoy a good cigar, but I don't want to start because I don't want to get addicted.

I love Cohiba's, Macanudos, Punch(es), and these hand rolled ones I get downtown. I am a huge cigar afficianado.

I've never heard of anyone developing an addiction to cigars.

Well, it's just tobacco, isn't it? Nicotine is one of the most highly addictive substances around.

It's hard to get addicted to a substance that you don't inhale into the lungs.
