The Crow Reboot

Yeah, this is giving Jared Leto Joker vibes. And that isn't a compliment in the slightest.

The entire look is horrible and the tattoos look garbage. Look, I have tattoos and so do a lot of my friends and family. I get it, we live in an age where tattoos are a bit more the norm than the exception. But that doesn't mean every character that gets an updated rendition needs to have them. Especially when the inspiration behind them is attached to Post Malone and Lil Peep.

Like, I'm an open minded person when it comes to filmmaking because I love to see things that are different. But this? This looks like a trainwreck already. The beauty in the original & Brandon Lee's performance was its simplicity, how relatable it was overall & that he looked like a mysterious badass as he sought revenge. You were cheering for him to succeed to have those feel good moments after seeing the horrific tragedy he endures.

This new version looks like a Gen Z drug addict trying to be as edgy as possible. And that leads me to believe Bill will just end up overacting here & doing way too much. Sometimes less is more.

Again, I don't believe doing a remake/reboot means you have to make the same movie, but being drastically different for the sake of being drastically different isn't a good approach either.

My understanding is that Eric was supposed to be young, hip, cool, etc. And back in 1989, that meant a goth-y, big hair/glam rock look. I guess… :ebr: But 35 years later, counterculture “cool” has a different aesthetic...

This is the Crow for the s**t-tok generation.
I'm as grumpy about the kids as anyone because kids are annoying, always have been annoying and always will be annoying but its so funny how we all spend our youths getting **** on for being a crummy generation then immediately spend out adulthoods being judgmental jerks about kids these days. A pattern we are all guilty of and will never be broken but we could all stand to, y'know, try and be better.

The tattoos overall are fine and the mullet is whatever, the mullet resurgence def works better on women than dudes but it feels like it fits the vibe of character they're going for. Was thinking people were being silly with the Letoker comparison until I noticed the forehead tattoo which does... certainly bring back memories.

Shame the movie has as many red flags of being a dud as a movie possibly could. The 90s film is great but I'd love to see a slower, quieter, artsier adaptation that really captures the wail of genuine agony the comic conveys.

Based on what?

It definitely wouldn't be so obnoxious with Eric's look, in this short test Momoa gave 100% comic Eric vibes.

What's goofy about it?
I like Momoa but it would be like Stallone or Arnie or Lundgren played Eric in the original movie. Just totally the wrong vibe. Even if the movie is bad (which it probably is) Bill Skarsgaard is excellent casting.

Frankly, while the design doesn't look amazing I appreciate that it looks nothing like Brandon Lee's Crow.

Based on the fact that Momoa is a far worse actor than Skarsgard and a huge miscast for the role. Also Sanders is not a great director, but Corin Hardy was worse.

Ehhh, The Nun is a lowkey so bad its good classic but The Hollow, while nothing amazing, is better than anything Sanders has directed.

Ideal state would’ve seen Hardy remain in the director’s chair with Bill as the lead. I’ve liked Hardy’s work in Gangs of London. But it is what it is now.

It’s funny to me that people say Bill looks Gen-Z or like a drug addict. I think he actually is supposed to be both of those things in this film. I might be mistaken, but pretty sure there was a synopsis floating around that mentioned

Eric and Shelly meeting at a rehab center.

Though I’m just guessing he’s meant to be a 20-something.

People getting mad that characters in a movie look like they're living in the era the movie is being made and taking place in are so funny to me. Dude just looks like half the alt guys under 40 you'd see at any sort of punk/metal show.

Yeah, Jeff Sneider confirmed that plot point.

Bill is a better actor, but he looked nothing like Eric or The Crow, at least Momoa looked the part, and It's hard to judge before seeing it, the only thing I know that this already looks nothing like either movie or the comic.

If studios started to making movies with people always looking like that, it wouldn't matter that people actually look like that, it would be insufferable nonetheless.

Bro what are you talking about. Eric is pretty, sharp featured and androgynous - Momoa is a big slab of man meat biker looking mother****er.
