The De2cent

Todd Brown from Twitch has seen The Descent: Part 2 and didn't like it. Can't say I'm surprised.

Todd Brown said:
The first Descent is a truly great piece of film, one of the best horror pictures of the past decade. The sequel? I’ve seen it and it aint. And not just because it’s thoroughly unnecessary but also because it’s hugely repetitive, filled with bad actors and devoid of original ideas.

^Not surprising to be honest, dont think I will be botherine with this one.

Film news website, you know like Joblo, QuietEarth, SHH... There's url in my previous post...

They specialize in "foreign" (=outside US) and genre films.
Which country are they located in? Are they like a foreign version of Job Blo?

And plus its just one review, but I guess once something is said, most people's minds are made up.

Hmmm this seems interesting. I liked the first movie, but the ending confused me a bit. I rented the unrated version with the "birthday cake" ending, but got confused when I saw it again on HBO earlier this year. So far I'm hearing bad things, but the first movie was good enough for me to at least catch this on a rental.

People have been reacting to this film from the get-go with meh/negative feelings, even more so after the trailers. So I'm not surprised someone didn't like it. If you read this thread (I know you already have), you'll notice that most of us aren't really looking forward to this sequel. Our minds were/are already "made up"...

But hey, here's a couple of semi-positive reviews. Basically saying it's not as good as the first one, but delivers for the blood'n'gore fans. Maybe it'll be watchable after all, but I'm not anxious to see this.

i thought the first one is pretty overrated..
i dont care to see a crappy version of it..

Teh D-25cent or w/e

horror movies have always had sequels. we know that.
but if there is one movie that should never have a sequel its the descent. you know it,i know it,the studio knows it.

I loved the first movie. This one looks terrible. :csad:

Not really looking forward to this, I didn't care for the original. The first half was great and very suspenseful, but the second half was just stupid once the Crawlers and their stupid appearances showed up.

Saw this last night. The positive reviews had changes my views a little and I went open minded to the screening. Uh-oh, I was right from the get-go this was announced; utterly pointless sequel. The beginning was stupid, but I was gonna let it slip once they were in the cave. Lots of killing (some nice goreffic ones), screaming and scares (None of them scared me, disappointingly. The guy next to me was jumping all the time, tho.) The ending was just a huge facepalm and rage to me.

A bad, a very bad sequel to an excellent horror film. Why this couldn't been even a decent (no pun) sequel instead of just your plain old ****?

That's disappointing.

I really enjoyed the first. The Director's Cut of the first one, specifically.

The twist was probably the stupid ending. Only one member of the search party manages to escape from the cave through a hole from where the creatures bring animals/food into the cave. While she's running in the woods she is knocked down by an old man (Who we've seen earlier in the film. He helped the party to find an entrance to the cave. He also mentions something about his grandfather going into the cave and never coming back.) who then drags her back to the hole. They are now implying that the old man has been feeding the creatures all along or some ******** like that.

Oh and, Juno is alive and the creatures do exist (duh), though they do play for a little while with the idea that it's all in Sarah's head.

Sorry to kick this thread up, but I just had to chime in and say how awful this movie is. I absolutely love the first one but this one is total trash. It's a shame they had to ruin it.

I just watched this last night and WTF was up with the ending? Just horrible!!!!:cmad:

Wow that's weird I watched it last night too :o The first one is one of my favourite horror/thrillers ever but this one just totally sucks. The ending was hilariously bad but it's not like the rest of the movie was good anyway.

I mean I was kinda with them until the ending.
Where they kill both Sarah and Juno. and then the Deputy crawls out the hole and runs a while, only to be smashed in the face with a shovel, by the same guy who found Sarah at the start. and he winked too, what was that about? Thats kinda like in Wrong Turn 2 when it turns out the old guy from the first one is the dad of all the mutants and sends people to them to feed on.

It just seemed it was settling up a sequel. Why, I don't know. All the main characters are dead.

I still have yet to see this sequel, and I'm going to, despite what people say. HOpefully, soon.

I usually don't say this, but I wouldn't bother with the movie. Or atleast if you're gonna see it, don't go out of your way to see it.
