Falcon and Winter Soldier The Falcon and the Winter Soldier General Discussion

Hopefully each series keeps setting a new best as the number of overall subscribers also grows.

Sam isn’t a descendant of Isiah Bradley correct? It’s rumored Carl Lumbry is playing him, but could of sworn I saw a pic of Carl on the Wilson’s family boat. All this talk of Sams family legacy, and Captain America’s legacy thought the creators might intertwine the two.

He isn't. It's possible they may change that for the mcu version like you said, but I hope they don't. If there was a picture of Carl on the boat, maybe Sam's parents knew Bradley.

Maybe Carl Lumby is still playing M'yrnn J'onzz and Falcon is actually a martian descendant.

I love Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan in these roles. Their banter is always fun to watch, and the Captain America movies are by far my favorite solo franchise in the MCU. But, I strongly disliked this first episode. I thought it was really slow and just bad. Not engaging in the slightest. I hope I can be swayed, but this is not working for me. Again, I love these characters and actors, but the writing is not good so far. Torres is awful, and the boat subplot can **** right off.

Does anyone know how accurate leaks are from "We Got This Covered?"

The subplot may be a bit dull but doesn't bother me. Sam's sister is dealing with real **** same as everyone else in the world and it ain't the kinda situation you can go and beat the F out of someone like the Avengers might. Maybe a bit unrealistic as Sam is a national hero and icon so his sister really shouldn't be struggling but so many are. I doubt we get too much of that beyond episode 2 but it's nice to see some family melodrama between siblings in the MCU and not have it be life or death.

Yeah... I don't for a second get where you are coming from in the least.

The episode's dealing with Sam's family issues is at the HEART of what the super hero elements of the show in regards to Cap and Falcon's relationship ect., ect. IS about. Even if one would have a next complaint as to it being "obvious" or some such... It's still there and totally appropriate.

And everywhere else... I just cannot see how this was weak writing for either of our main protagonists. At all. It could all GO bad at any point, but this started out, for a "pilot" episoded... Pretty solidly well.

Mackie and Stan have an insane amount of chemistry. The best in the MCU IMO!

Folks don't care to see Sam's family. All they want is smash smash fight which would really be watered down. I'm glad someone else enjoyed the arc of Sam's familial relationship last episode.

It fleshes out Sam, makes his conflicts and tensions relatable and ties into all the elements about legacy that are inherently tied into the symbol of Cap and the shield.

And it isn't like they shorted us on the slam bang action stuff either.

There's been good action in both episodes. I never expected these mini-series to be wall-to-wall action and what we have had has been high quality. I think they've done a good balancing act so far, with solid character work in both episodes.

One of the very worst sites out there for accuracy. They just post anything and everything so that if you google anything you might have ever speculated about, there will be a WGTC article somewhere claiming it's happening, so eventually some of them will be right lol.

I know you were having second thoughts about the MCU future after WV. Has this show so far helped right the ship at all for you?

The rest of the D Plus line up is all stuff I want to see and so far this is giving me a real look under the hood of our two protagonists all to the benefit of both and showing a wid range of aspects to each. Sam's family, his ambivalence and sense of burden in regards to Steve's legacy, his commitment to "the job", all great stuff. And Bucky is being written and performed in a way that taps into his guilt over his past while also finding time for really well done lighter moments.

So this is a life preserver of sorts to my fanboy passion if you will, along with the pleasant surprise of how actually good the JL director's cut was.

We'll see how I react going forward as I still am of the mind that I can probably skip half of the MCU releases in the future.

I do hope that people who were put off by the slow pacing of the first episode do enjoy the second one more, because I thought it was alot better in that regard.

I get why some people were put off by it, but we really needed it, because so little has been done with both Sam and Bucky in movies in terms of character development.

It was impressive to me how they handled that aspect so well in just one episode and thank god these episodes are almost an hour long because it feels like they are able to do so much more than WandaVision which I loved, but those episodes were way too short IMO.

Good to hear.

I also liked the ZSJL cut and was surprised to see how comparatively well received it was compared to the original.

I'm hoping these shows all have the quality not just to satisfy me but to get all those potential MCU fans watching as much as possible. That will only be good for the chances of what we can get in future and the associated budgets.

I think there will be a bunch of people who prefer the second episode.

Yeah, I think the longer runtime suits this show better. I didn't mind so much for WV due to the lighter material in the early episodes.

I knew they would have given on the hints of it we'd seen in the films. Glorious seeing it all play out now though.

I agree. It helps set him. He's a superhero but he's still a regular dude who has family issues. It should make him more relatable to the audience.
