The Fantastic Four: Second Steps General News & Discussion Thread

The Fantastic Four are my favourite superhero team, so I am really hoping that this new movie can take the horrible taste out of mind that was left by Fant4stic :vomit: from 2015.

I was a bit surprised by the casting of Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, but he is a decent, solid actor and I have hopes he will do a good job.

The rest of the cast I am not particularly familiar with, so I do not really have any expectations to be met.

The Thing looks great, as does Galactus. H.E.R.B.I.E. is an interesting add-in as he is solely from the cartoon.
While having Shalla-Bal as the herald is comic accurate, to a degree, I find it puzzling why the filmmakers went this route. But hey, maybe it will work just fine.

I am cautiously optimistic about this movie and already have my BFI IMAX London ticket purchased for the 26th of July at 11:30
It's the 3D showing, coz I like 3D and it always looks awesome on a screen which is 66 feet high by 85 feet wide...!

If you are going to be there at the same time, gimme a wave...

I would like to see Annihilus in the sequel.
I was hoping he would be the big bad in the first one so of course he would be great for the second! Maybe hard to go from a big bad like Galactus to him though? Idk

Isn't he like a big bad in Marvel Universe?

I kind of want to see a 60s inspired fantastic four version of Black Panther

it's to bad they have to fast track the F4 into the modern day of the MCU in time for Doomsday/ Sercet Wars...

cause having them crossover in the 60's of the MCU-verse first would have been a cool story....

meeting characters like the 60's Black Panther, an such

I doubt they would do multiple Fantastic 4 films set in the past.

Yeah its a shame we cant spend longer in this world, as its so vivid and added a lot to the feel of the movie, unless they can find a way back after Doomsday/SW of course, I mean they are still protectors of that world after all.

I am hoping it is out by 2028. Make it one of the 1st movies post Secret Wars.

I am also hoping we get a Silver Surfer movie by say 2029 also.

The thing is, and im just speculating, i dont actually know, but I feel like post Secret Wars there will only be ONE Marvel universe with everything merged into it. So the 828 world will no longer exist technically.

I could be wrong though.

maybe not a full movie...

could make a fun mini animated series (in the vane of a "what if" type story) where its not necessary movie cannon but, you could taking as such

1 fabric of universe/reality. Basically undoing what caused the multiverse in the past.

This is a very fair point, the multiverse era has been very hit and miss to put it kindly, even going as far as having Deadpool rip the p*** out of them for it their own movie, so I can see them having that desire to go back to 1 timeline and 1 universe. I think they lost a fair amount of the general audience post Endgame due to the messy nature of the multiverse stuff.

Its no surprise the better received movies have been the ones that have ignored it (Shang Chi/F4, GotG3/TB) or used it sparingly or for comedy effect (D&W).

Its just a shame we will lose this world F4 set up though, still at least this film exists now and we have it once, whatever direction they decide to go in next.

I saw this on Sunday at the Waterloo BFI IMAX.

Have to say I totally loved it. All the cast were great in their roles.
My only real gripe is that I don't think there was enough time spent on the antagonists.
Maybe the Directors Edition... :-):-)

A small amount of the CGI seemed a tad off to me, but it didn't take me out of the movie.

Have to say that I enjoyed this movie more than Superman, and I'm a big Superman fan.

Welcome back good Marvel movie(s? :fingerscrossed:) I've missed you... :like:

I'm not sure i want to see all these big teams (F4, Avengers, X-Men) in the same Marvel universe because it can make it difficult to do storylines affecting the whole planet, solar system, galaxy etc, as you're wondering where the other superheroes are at the time and why they aren't helping out.

F4 feels nice being in its own very different retro-futuristic world and it's a shame if we have already reached the end of that after one film. But, on the other hand, how much more big-screen potential is there for F4? Doctor Doom is already being used in Avengers (and was in all the previous F4 movies). Inhumans had a disappointing TV show (but I would love to see a better representation). Namor has already been in Black Panther. That leaves Annihilus/Negative Zone and not much else.

But then again I suppose the point of Marvel Studios having all the rights back is so that characters can interact.

I really don't have an answer to this, lol... just loads of questions.

I think you've put this in the wrong thread, lol. There's a rate and review for F4: First Steps; this thread is discussing a possible next movie.

I think you have to suspend disbelief to an extent on why other characters are not in projects. But as for other threats, I think the FF have lots of great villains, so there are still options. Kirby keeps talking up doing Malice in a future movie, so bring on Psycho-Man I say.

I think its fine to set the X-Men, the Avengers and the Fantastic 4 in the same world/reality. But they all live in the same country, same state iirc. Its really hard not to imagine/ask where are other teams/superheroes, when one team is dealing with a world ending threat.
