The Favorite Movies of Directors

Oh, and Stanley Kubrick said "Eraserhead" was one of his all time favourite films. Wow.. I love these two guys!

Sunset Boulevard is other one I want to see and I've never watched a movie from Kubrick. Looks like its time to start.

... what? :wow:

Okay, I'm a dumb azz. I've seen Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket (Very disturbing, even more so than Clockwork) and Spartcus (Love it). I've seen 1/3 of 2001.

For some reason its been a very difficult movie to watch all the way through.

It's a slow film, but trust me, it's well worth the watch. It's one of the best cinematic experiences I've ever had. Especially the end sequence.

2001 isn't slow at all, come on. What do you need, quick cuts?! Maybe Bay could remake it for you.

2001: A Space Odyssey, without a doubt, is my favorite film of all-time. I watched it in, say, 6th grade and I couldn;t believe people found it slow or boring. I still have a hard time believing it was made in the '60s.

I find Rear Window somewhat hard to get through. Haven't finished the first hour yet.

And it's a throroughly entertaining and technically superb set-up I might add.

Watch 2010. It's from 1984 yet it feels like it was made in the 50s. It's not very good but oh well..

Kubricks top ten.

I vitelloni (1953), Smultronstället (1957) (Wild Strawberries), Citizen Kane (1941), The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948), City Lights (1931), The Chronicle History of King Henry the Fift with His Battell Fought at Agincourt in France (1944) (Henry V), Cette nuit-là (1958), The Bank Dick (1940), Roxie Hart (1942) and Hell's Angels (1930).

Out of them I've only seen Citizen Kane and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

Just finished watching "Treasure". Great great movie. I always thought it was an action/adventure movie. It has those elements in it but it is a morally tale. Excellent character study.

I think 2001 is the best movie ever made, but it is not my favorite (though it is one of my 5 favorites). I have two different lists.

Schumacher's list that was posted is actually rather good. With a list like that, it is odd that he chooses the films he does and has that goofy style.
