So what are your opinions of each service and which one do you use or like most. DoorDash and Favor are the only ones widely available in my area.

Okay so I'm liking DoorDash.

Do you guys have Just Eat? I’ve been using that recently and it’s working exactly as I’d expect/want. Very convenient especially when everything is otherwise closed.

The internet considers this one of the worst commercials of all time.

You know I have never used any of those services despite being in NYC.

Never used any delivery service except for restaurants that deliver (almost exclusively Chinese or Thai.....occasionally sushi). I live in an area that has a lot of restaurants so, if I'm not cooking (which is somewhat unusual), I take 10 minutes to run out and pick something up.

Yeah, when I'm not cooking, I try to order takeout or delivery from my favourite independent local restaurants directly to support them during this difficult time. The delivery services skim most if not all of the profit off the top (restaurant profit margins are tiny FYI). Most of my favourite places offer delivery and they employ their servers as the drivers (since in person dining has either been nonexistent or heavily restricted). It gives them a way to keep the front of house staff on the payroll.

Our household is blessed to be financially well-off enough to choose the more ethnical options, even if more expensive, but these are considerations that everyone should think about.

After the job change I really have a lack of time to cook something. By the way, there are many business trips as well and the company bought for me the gift cards in Panera Bread. From that time this is my best place to eat.

For me, during Covid lockdown, I;'m both surprised and not surprised by their popularity, given the position of most restaurants being closed it makes perfect sense that people would have used them, but then having complete strangers make & prepare your food with not knowing if health & safety being advised (to be fair, this would freak me out in a 'normal' reality equally) and kept would prevent me and also the fact that you don't know if masks are gonna be worn upon delivery.

To answer the question, mainly just used major firms rather than delivery specific operations.

So I've noticed some restaurants have inflated prices on DoorDash vs their actual prices.

yes. and i've heard its due to DoorDash taking so much of the money from the transactions that they're not making very much
Makes sense. DoorDash also includes a $3.00 service fee in the tax. That plus the tip and I see no benefit using them even with free delivery. Unless DashPass waives the service fee?

Right now I'd rather opt for pickup and get the food myself.

if i use DoorDash these days, I pretty much have a coupon and I use Pickup

i can't remember if DashPass waived the fees or discounted them. i had a free trial back when i was traveling for work alot so it's been a while

Apparently it cuts it in half, and may waive when it's over $10.
