You need the GAP plug-in for GIMP to make animated gifs.

But I haven't done so in a while because after a new GIMP version a while back, the plug-in stopped working, and I never bothered to check if it had been updated.

I had some exposure to that program while working as an ed. tech. Pretty complicated stuff to an old timer like me. I make smaller gifs using software that I could find cheap (free) and simple.

I tried GIMP but couldn't figure out how to do layers without filling up my screen with single image frames.

I haven't used GIMP but I'm sure there's tons of tutorials on youtube you can check out. That's how I learn how to make gifs on photoshop.

I've been using ULead Gif Animator for as long as I can remember . I have Photoshop CS5 as well but I'd need some YouTube tutorials before I started using it for .gifs (or anything for that matter ).

I got caught up in about 3 hours of Youtube clips in a playlist of just strictly Scenes from a Hat Whose Line skits haha.
