This is a quite interesting spin-off series. We get new heroes in Jason, Piper, Leo, Hazel and Frank. All these characters are interesting to follow.
Heroes of Olympus is different from Percy Jackson & The Olympians, even more adventurous. I get a feeling that it's more "real" compared to the the previous book series, like waking up from a dream to face reality. It may be more violent, and there's no doubt that the stakes are higher.
I don't know if you understand my way of thinking, but I hope you do.

There is something about the great prophecy that bugs me. Look at it!

Seven half-bloods shall answer the call.
To storm or fire the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.

As there are two books out and three more to come, we don't really know what demigods Rick Riordan had in mind. Fans of the books have made assumptions that the five new lead characters and Percy are six of them. It may be that way. But is Annabeth the seventh? The next book seems to reveal something about godess Athena, but that doesn't really mean that her daughter should be one of the seven, does it?
What seems to be over-looked is the fate of Nico de Angelo. In the end of The Son of Neptune, it's said that Nico has been taken prisoner at the Doors of Death, the place mentioned in the prophecy. I think this hints something. Nico may be of great importance. But in what way, we will find out later on.
I could be reading too much into this, wanting Nico to be a major character.

But it seems that the seven demigods are supposed to be children of the seven most powerful gods

*Jason, son of Jupiter (roman)
*Piper, daughter of Aphrodite (greek)
*Leo, son of Hephaestus (greek)
*Percy, son of Poseidon (greek)
*Hazel, daughter of Pluto (roman)
*Frank, son of Mars (roman)

Looking at it this way, there surely needs to be one of Athena's children too. She's one of the major, MAJOR olympians. And the gods/godesses have only one child each in the prophecy. But wait, something is wrong.
Mars is more important to romans than Ares is to greeks. So far, everything seem right.
But Pluto is not one of the big three, acording to romans. And he's more feared compared to Hades in greek mythology. So how come Hazel is to be one of the seven in the prophecy? She's on the roman side and it seems a little bit strange. Her being a part of the prophecy could only be readers's guessing, because she was a lead character in the second book.
But Nico is greek, and son of Hades. Hmmm, I sense some disturbance in the force here. Could we get some story twists in one of the upcoming books? Or should Riordan go the easy way, follow a plot line that is obvious and without revealing anything breathtaking along the way?
As there have been a few surprises about Hazel and about Frank, I very much suspect/want/wish for it to continue that way for other characters as well.

And how come there's no Hera/Juno demigods?

I wonder if they will make live action adaptions out of all the books, or if the interest in greek mythology will fade out before that.
