Actual tears were shed. Not just because it was Hodor, maybe the purest character ever on the show, but the sheer cosmic inevitability of it. Such a brutal loom this show weaves.
Imagine how heartbreaking it will be if Bran or one of the Starks, in the ultimate battle scene, comes face to face with the Hodor-wight. Even as a rotted corpse they're going to know it's him.
