It's always a bit horrifying when you go back long enough and look at things that used to thrill us, lol. I have scared myself more than once. :p

So my niece has come to live with us for a few nights and the girl has horrible taste in music.:fst:

Barely 14 years, I don't call that stuff old if it's not 20 years or more.
It's old for me, lol. I don't think I have any Spider-Man's 20 years old. I've always been more of an X-Men person. :)

Wow, so I told the landlady I am not going to deal with the diaper situation and she completely blew up and freaked out telling me I have a week and then I have to leave. This is straight BS. I'm afraid I'm going to come home from work one day and they are going to clean me out like the guy who went into the hospital. I took pics of all my stuff and I'm going to keep mail with my name on it in my backpack so if they try anything I have proof. I can't believe this nonsense. I have lived her for 2 years, never caused a problem, never complained about any of the myriad of BS that comes with this place and this is how they wanna act. Total BS. I'm looking for new places on Craigslist right now. So pissed off I can't even finish my mix

I hope I never have to rent again. :(

F*** em, I already found a new place, going by after work tomorrow to check it out. Same price, seems to be leagues above the craphole I'm in now. F*** these people and their insanity

I'd invite you to live in the Playboy mansion as my guest but you'd be cramping my style bro.

Exactamundo!

Look, I get us having our capes in a twist when we see crap we don't like but a little perspective can help. When I was a kid, live action Daredevil wore black too... and that's all he ever wore cause he appeared with Lou Ferrigno's Hulk and that was it. Now the floodgates are open and when that happens there's bound to be things, even with major characters that's gonna upset you.

The thing is look at how it causes such insane reactions that get people at each other's throats. People are straight up angry despite them saying different. Look at how people were communicating with each other. Posters that I have lots of respect for were getting hot under the collar... and while we always like to be even handed... one side IS a lot more angry than the other, just as in the Ledger situation. The con side show an emotional response that turns into a bit of free floating aggressiveness.

Here's the thing... Congenitally I really at my core want an exacting recreation of these characters and elements from whatever source, visually speaking. My inner 14 year old is alive and well, thank you very much. So things like Superman without the briefs, Jarvis being Stark's AI, Bucky being the same age as Steve ect... Yes they stick in my craw. But I've learned to roll with these things because I think about it in two ways...

1. I love this stuff with great intensity. Always have, and always will. It gives me great joy and despite what any think, I also can see great profundity in the material.

2. It's at the same time all made up BS that has always and will always change and I sometimes won't be 100 percent on board.

OK. I'll admit it, even though those made for tv Captain America movies are cheesy & insane, I'm a BIG fan of them both, especially part two, since Christopher Lee was the main villain in it. As soon as they were made available on dvd, I scooped up a copy for me!!! I regret nothing!! :cmad: :o

Haha, I want to read it now.

J. Michael Straczynski was writing the title and for the most part it was some of the best Spider-Man stuff in decades. Focused, fun, but it also moved things forward. May finding out the secret was really well done. Her reaction to Peter's reasoning, the overdramatic, "I can't tell her... The shock would kill her" nonsense was priceless, and true to life. Some issues like the 9/11 one are... Well you have to read it to see. JMS got the character and mythology of Spidey... Goblin twin nonsense notwithstanding. :sly:

Meh, I wasn't a huge fan. Some stuff was good. But the dialogue was a bit overwrought and there were some real duds (like you said the Goblin twins, and also "the other"). I will say at its worst, it was still hugely better than the crap that's calling itself "Spider-Man" now. *shudder*

But overall, I'm more of a late 80's, early 90's guy. To me that's the classic **** right there, with the early Venom fights and Carnage in 'Amazing'. And the great psychological dramas with Vermin, Kraven and Harry Osborn becoming the Green Goblin in 'Spectacular'. Plus the art was just the best…. Bagley, McFarlane, Larsen…. pretty much the artists who redefined Spidey's look for the next couple decades.
