I'm really liking the new look. The bright eyes don't bother me at all and my only gripe (and this is nit-picking at this stage) is the hair looks a little too 'clumped'. This could be part of the scene mind you* and if not I wouldn't be surprised though if that is refined soon enough.

Anyways, a while back there was a little argument over unfairly comparing the two film Hulks by using a poorer quality 03 shot to match the blurred quality of the 08 one.
As there's no excuse to handicap either one now here's a mock-up of both with nothing changed from the original pics other than joining them.

* by story I mean:
one change takes place in a water bottle plant so it would make sense if he does get wet and his hair sticks/clumps up as a result
.

New Hulk has more grit to his texture, but quality wise, the newer Hulk does look a bit better.

I think the new Hulk colour is kind of interesting. Doesn't look greyish green like people said, it is more of a brownish green that gives more of a "realistic" effect.

I want to thank you for taking the time out to make this comparison. I loved the 2003 close up. I feel this 2008 one screams HULK! :cwink:Thanks again for understanding my pov.

you can all like the new hulk all you want. the designe ( i also like the designe better)but the skin in this pic from 2003 looks more like human skin.

Well the new Hulk may look rough cos Banner's been living rough in Brazil. Not had a shave, not a proper home or food, all of these conditions can effect the skin of Banner and this can be translated back onto Hulk. Whereas in Ang's Hulk, Banner lived in a proper decent house, wasn't a fugitive and was able to look after himself so you got a smooth looking Hulk.

Just a thought.

I think the skin looks fine, different peoples skin looks different, imo there isn't a definitive look for skin.

No arguement there, but his color was wrong. The new design has its tweakings needed, but when its all said and done it should stand alone on its own merits. The cgi for 2003 was ahead of its time and well done. The only real gripe was being consistant with his face. You could point out at least 6 different versions of his face. Anyway, this one looks good facially, if not better. I havent heard shrek once, lol.

then why does nortons skin look normal?

Be more specific with your question. What do you mean why does Norton's skin look normal? If you are referring to when he is clean shaven then the Hulk looks clean shaven IMO. If he has stubble like in that shot, he had stubble when he was running. Simple I guess and that would be more realistic and interesting don't you think?

It isn't. Put some of that keen nit-picky critic eye on any pic of him from this film, and notice he has some noted scar tissue on his face, especially that one under his left eye. Also, he's not all that clean.

Exactly what I was trying to say.

That is why Hulk's skin texture looks rough cos Banner's is whereas in Ang's Hulk the skin texture was smooth cos so was Banner's.

It's more then just the stubble too, little things like smile-lines and wrinkles. There is more detail in the newer HULK. Also, variances in the color of the skin, just as real skin would be. Not one solid color. Eyes = perfect (whether glowing or not), the HULK grimmace has to be there. The OLIVE color is perfect!

Lee's Hulk was good, but it look as though he was spray painted green. His skin texture was human, but is the Hulk human? No.

Very true.

The CGI was good in Ang's Hulk, no doubt. And I didn't notice it before but you are right that Ang's Hulk looks like he was spray painted green, it was just one tone of green all over whereas Leterrier's Hulk has different greens, greys and browns and a lot more detail.

When the trailer debuted, my friend said to me this Hulk looks better, he looks like a monster which is what he is.

Thanx for this GREAT!!! comparison Wobbly. The detail in new Hulk's face looks absolutely amazing! I like both Hulks but with new Hulk this is how I imagine he would appear. Totally pi$$ed and scary. He'd make you **** yourself just at the sight of him.

Agreed, I think the skin color is perfect. To me it's the perfect Gravage Hulk color.(wishing Hulk would speak)

Exactly...Hulk's not human.

That's right he's a MONSTER.

When I first saw the trailer I was a bit bothered by what I saw but I couldn't quite place my finger on what was wrong. after looking at it for awhile I figured it out.
to be sure that I was correct I conducted a little test. without giving them any hint of what I thought, I asked my 10 year daughter, and my 20 year nephew to take a look at it.
I also asked a 40 year friend of mine who is as much into comics and superhero movies for his opinion.
the interesting thing is that they all came up with the same conclusion.
the Hulk looked fake. ("very CGI, weird and lumpy") etc. they mentioned the "obvious fakness of the helicopter scene" and the Abomination.
they were underwhelmed.

here is the thing, even if you individualy don't think there is anything wrong with the CGI, the fact that it is such a topic of discussion makes it clear that there is a problem.

One I hope they fix before the release.

exactly. its not even the stills i have a problem with (although they look very "painterly" to my eye). its the movement and seamlessness that bothers me. the characters dont look as if they are really occupying the space and the movement is sub par. heres to hoping the talk of unfinished cgi wasnt just that-talk.

I work in an office and most of my co-workers know I'm a big Hulk fan. I told many of them to download the trailer to check it out. Although not every one of them thought it was as great as I did, they all commented on how the Hulk looks great.

I think the only people driving the 'bad' CGI into the ground, are the doubters, critique minded posters, hulk haters and trolls on this board. Not even in the comic shop I visit did anyone think the CGI was bad when I bought it up. Some eyes opened wide when I told them that it was unfinished, which lead to a conversation about the Iron Man tank footage and how it was changed and enhanced.
