I hated the movie with a passion. I love the series and went into the theater with an open mind but that quickly disappeared in the first 10 minutes or so. The only good news I've heard about the series is that the original creators are continuing the cartoon.

They aren't continuing it. They are simply doing a brand new series that takes place many years after the original. Basically Avatar: TNG.

Speaking of Scott Pilgrim, why is it that they were able to so effectively cram a 6 volume graphic novel series into a single movie and still tell the story effectively and without over rushing it, and yet with The Last Airbender they failed? Everything was in place for M. Night to make a good movie, except for M. Night himself. :(

I honestly don't think it was that effective. The second and third acts were incredibly rushed. They also were basically doing the movie before I think volumes 5 and 6 were even out there.

I wouldn't say that's not continuing it. (Uh oh, double negative )

unforunately pilgrim is doing pretty terrible at the box office. The Last Airbender failed in my opinion becuz of the epicly short run time, for a movie like the last airbender u need 2hrs + to tell that story effectively. Im not gonna lie, there were moments in that film where i had chills, but it kills me that they miscasted some characters pretty horribly, mostly the villains such as Zhao were terribly miscasted. and characters like Zuko did not get enough screen time. The movie made its budget back and more so im hoping they greenlight the sequel and find a new director and writer to pen the sequels. m night clearly cannot write movies with more than 3 main characters.

It was sad to see it fail so bad. I love the show but i wish it was more like lotr with comedy. M night is horrible.

So much for MNS being the next Spielberg. :hehe:

I wonder what his kids thought about the movie. Since they were the ones who got him interested in the show.

225 worlwide on a budget of 150-200 is in no way enough for a sequel . you add the bad reviews and this baby is already gone.

if it can get 300 million it will get a sequel

look at gi joe it got a sequel and did'nt even break even

this just can not get the sequel. the reviews were way to bad. if you got that bad reviews and brake records then money talks.

but if you dont make money and at the same time get bad reviews then i see no logical reason to make a sequel.

didnt i writte if you make money that then money talks?

how can you writte ALvin when it is making a lot of profit for FOX?

So the Shymalan kids are to blame than?

;)

Yea... but Im wondering if FOX will let MNS do The Last Airbender sequel

G.I. Joe was not critically loved, cost more, and only made 300 million worldwide but will get a sequel.

If this film hits 300 million worldwide, which it probably will considering it still has new markets to open up in, then I can see Paramount pursuing a sequel. Here's hoping they do so but without Shyamalan at the helm.

GI was in no way hated.

GI cost more? who said that? boxofficemojo?

GI sequel is only talk IMO

I have only M Night Shyamalan to blame for this disaster. It's like he's lost the ability to make a good movie. I had high hopes and they were all dashed. What's worse is that he seems oblivious to the significant drop in quality of his creations. I was excited that the director of one of my favorite movies "Unbreakable" was adapting one of my favorite animations.

I'd have rather seen Chris Columbus direct it.

gi joe got 34% on RT not as bad at the 8% TLA got but still
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is largely a cartoonish, over-the-top action fest propelled by silly writing, inconsistent visual effects, and merely passable performances.
not loved either

GI Joe wasn't bad, I thought it was a solid summer flick, then again I wasn't familiar with GI Joe before watching the movie so I don't know how faithful it was to the cartoon.

I know GI Joe was bad, I knew it while I was watching it, but I had too much fun to really hate it. Maybe I would if I was more of a GI Joe fan in the first place.
