Ya know...I can actually see it.. :p

and I saw about 45 minutes of this movie again today and WOW...the movie was worse than I remembered... :(

why was this film so bad? I have ot admit the trailers looked terrific when I saw it, the special effects looked great

What do you call people who liked this film then?

I liked it okay the first time I saw it, but then today, its flaws really burst through..

Of course I did, I watched a few episodes and then stopped, maybe I'm just too old to appreciate 9 year old humor.
Oh God, then,...you really don't get it...You can't expect to appreciate the show in any regard by watching a couple of random episodes.

How old ARE you BTW?

I can't believe this is still an ongoing debate. The last Airbender was a cutesy little kids cartoon show that was adapted for film. What exactly were ppl expecting?

I feel like A:TLA is a show on par w/ such Epics as Lord of the Rings & Chronicles of Narnia. If the movie was handled w/ even the slightest degree that those 2 properties were then I'm sure you wouldn't be hearing 1/2 of the complaints. Saying that something based off of a cartoon shouldn't having any expectations seems a little nonsensical.

Yes, 3D helped but it's still good money considering everyone hated it. Basically, people went and saw it then warned their friends and family about how much it sucked. Had it been good, the word of mouth would have encouraged people to check it out and it would have been a hit.

It's funny. I spoke to at least 20 of my friends and co-workers (who are all fans of the show) to stay away from the movie after I saw it and at least 1/2 saw it anyway, simply because they loved the source material and were really hopeful that I was just exaggerating and didn't know what I was talking about. They all agreed that it was horrible. I'm still hopeful that the final 2 books are made on-screen and that more thought be taken into the scripts and story. The acting I'm sure can/will improve w/ time.

Okay, then stop talking about things that you don't know or care about.

I'd say give it another shot. The early episodes aren't as good as later ones because the producers were still testing things out. Sokka for example only has his character set a little later, and the more childish humour dials down a lot pretty soon.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought Dev could have played Sokka.

I thought the humor in the show is what makes it so charming...The humor actually runs the gamut in what they do in the show...but really, the drama and emotion of the show is what you'll get nine times out of ten. The childish humor isn't doing any harm.

The key is to really watch the show from the beginning and make it through the end of Book One. If you still don't like the show, then at least you can say that you've given it a real chance.

It's gotta be the best article I read about MNS. Maybe it wasn't talent at all.

All in all, MNS is and always has been a fluke.

I love this article and this bashing of M Night. I don't usually enjoy the bashing of director, but M Night one of the exceptions I have. He thinks so highly of himself and constantly believes his films are flawless. He never learns from his mistakes because he doesn't think he makes any.

Even the best filmmakers learn from their mistakes, but M Night is no filmmaker.

It breaks my heart about the movie. I really wish it was in the hands of Peter Jackson or Speilberg. Could you imagine what it would have been like if we got a 3 hour Book One movie? A 9 hour trilogy????

The ending in the series was beautiful to say the least. I still choke up about it. just picturing it in my head what it would have looked like on film...............oh my :wow: :csad:

MNS only good and enjoyable films were Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense IMO I have one question, why the heck is this guy still making movies?

I'm telling you. M. Night is like your best friend who is a drug addict. Deep down, he means well but he always screws up. You always give a chance after chance because you don't want to give up on him, but he always ends up failing.

I concur w/ everything. Except the crying part. lol.

And MNS continues to take a beating from critics. This one explored his incompetence and really slams him while still staying mature about it.

Although Shyamalan's public defense of TLA may be his way of desperately saving face, not necessarily a sign of someone so incompetent he doesn't know that he's incompetent. :funny: We wouldn't know for sure unless someone on his crew spills the beans.

And I also disagree that big studio films are immune to incompetency. Most of them (actually, nearly all) suffer from at least bad writing due to too many hands on deck. They're incompetent not because the filmmakers are unskilled, they're incompetent because the HiPPO (Highest Paid Person's Opinion) in the studio doesn't know how to make a movie. Supposedly Rothman came up with the title "Knight and Day" even though it made no sense in context with the movie, and was so enamored of his awesome contribution that nobody dared change it. :funny:

The thing is that I'm pretty sure everyone on the crew of said movies know they're not working on a masterpiece, but do the best with what they have anyway.

The show as a whole has more depth than half the live action tv shows currently out right now.
