The Last Voyage of Demeter (a different Dracula adaptation)

Saw this tonight. It was okay, I guess. A little too long, the narrative choices were a little weird (particularly the ending), and I didn't think it ever really fully utilized the horror of Dracula well. Just felt too generic, though there were some neat moments here and there.

Certainly a nice trip to movies for a Friday night with a crowd.

Really enjoyed this but would’ve been cool to see it go all out. In some ways it felt a bit safe. Regardless, nice to see a movie like this in this day and age.

Saw it over the weekend and I enjoyed it. As someone previously mentioned this movie is essentially Alien.

The cinematography and set design was beautifully executed. Pretty cool concept to adapt a single chapter in the Dracula novel into a movie

Shame it’s not doing well in the box office. Should have released it in September or October for the Halloween season

Saw this afternoon. Not bad. I liked the various Dracula make ups. Wasn't a huge fan of how they filmed the darkness and kind of wish Dracula had spoken clearly a few more times.

Also, I am a bad person.

I laughed when the kid jumped up and lit the captain on fire

Damn it really is a shame that this didn't do better at the BO because this is one hell of a well-made, big budget, vampire flick which is something I've been wanting out of this genre for a while now.

It definitely felt a little too long especially towards the end, but I loved the atmosphere, the production design and the look of Dracula although I wish there was more focus on the practical make-up/effects.

Javier Botet has such a unique, physical appearance and I wish we actually got to see more of him underneath the creature prosthetics, but I guess it was too difficult to put onscreen for some reason.

Loved seeing Corey Hawkins in this too.

Also, the kid from Cobweb definitely has a bright future ahead of him.

There must be something wrong with my sense of good movies. I didn’t care for Last Voyage but I like what I’m seeing with the new Exorcist film. I thought Dracula looked generic and the detail given to the ship was the most interesting part of the movie.

It was an enjoyable enough film but nothing really innovative. I thought the BBC Dracula adaption did the tension on the Demeter just as well.
