Sometime late next year, if I recall correctly.

Yeah, Anchor Bay just recently picked up distribution rights so it'll be 2013 sometime. If I had to guess, probably sometime between late August and October. Just a hunch.

Good interview. Rob seems like a cool guy.

Definitely. I like his interviews, because he's always really open and candid. His commentaries on the movies he's done are always entertaining too.

We have a release date!

April 26, 2013.

Also unexpectedly, a novelization dropping a month earlier in March 2013.

That's good news about the release date. I'll definitely be picking up the novelization.

April has both this and, a few weeks before, Evil Dead.

Also Carrie is out in March.

While I'm certainly glad to see these movies sooner rather than later, what's with all the horror films coming out in April as opposed to October? I know September-October can be a bit of a dead zone as far as movie grosses go but is Spring really that much of a better time to release movies?

Lords of Salem I think will be fine in April, but Evil Dead should be an October release to capitalize on Halloween. I'm just pleased I don't have wait too much longer Lords of Salem. I've been looking forward to it for far too long.

This film at the very least looks extremely well shot. Who is the cinematographer on this?

I love how candid Rob Zombie is in interviews and how self aware he is about his work, be it his music or his films. He's spoken about the need to actively go against his normal inclinations with this movie, which would normally be the more handheld and frenetic style that he has used in the past.

I went to the the RZ/Marilyn Mason "Twins of Evil" show at their St. Louis stop back in October. After Zombie's main set a screen descended and they played the trailer for this right before kicking into the encore. The crowd went nuts. It was a good time.

I'm not sure this will get a wide release. Anchor Bay is known for super limited releases. Maybe this is different since RZ is probably their best-known director they have and they'll expand it.

RZ's site put out a few pics to tide us over, but have announced that there will be a new trailer this week!

Behind the scenes, is that guy in the foreground wearing an eyepatch?

I hope he doesn't make the witches white trash like he did the Myers family

Side note, it has been announced that Rob Zombies new album "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor" (yes that is really the title) will be released on April 23, the same week as the Lords of Salem film.

As a big fan of much of Rob Zombie's work, I must say this is pretty good news.

Definitely. A new album then 3 days later a new movie. Very awesome!

Some more album info:

“I think for the first time this new album perfectly merges the old days of White Zombie with the future of what I am doing now. I think fans of both will agree that this is the perfect combo of both worlds”

A rock icon and auteur filmmaker with insight and unlimited vision, Rob Zombie has continuously challenged audiences as he stretches the boundaries of music, film, and publishing. Now, the seven-time Grammy®-nominated recording artist releases his fifth solo album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, which streets April 23, and includes the first single, “Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Super Town,” along with such tracks as “Ging Gang Gong De Do Gong De Laga Raga,” “Lucifer Rising,” “Behold! The Pretty Filthy Creatures” and a heavy-duty cover of Grand Funk Railroad’s “We’re an American Band.”

Rob Zombie’s Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor is the first release on his new label, Zodiac Swan, through T-Boy Records/UMe.

Zombie has spoken how for the first time in a long while he feels like all the pieces really fell into place with the new album and he believes it to be his best work in years.

A major part of why I like Rob Zombie so much is that he's very much aware about what he's putting out there. While our opinions of his new album may contradict what he says, I do believe he is sincere in his comments and not just trying to talk up his new release.

That extends to his movies. He's made it pretty clear that he understood that his whole crazy redneck/handheld video thing was getting a little stale and consciously worked against a lot of those impulses with Lords. I can't wait to see what we get out of it.

Also his titles are suitably insane.

Just saw the new trailer. Looks pretty rad. It at least seems a tad different from Zombie's usual hillbilly horror funhouse.

Bloody Disgusting has some stills, I'm not sure if they're actual promo pics or just their own screengrabs.

The new poster kind of bugs me, so I made my own version of it.
