Believe me I dont like defending Robs movies, cuz, well, Im not a fan. However, I did read an interview when he was doing the Halloween movies that, in his mind, it is more plausible for these horrific things to happen to people who are in the white trash world.

I dont see things that way. I believe that horrific things can happen to anyone, in any walk of life, at any time. I aso feel that it is more terifying when these things happen to the more "normal" class of people. Its not in their norm. This is why I really hope Zombie does his homework on the actual denizens of modern day Salem. The short period of time in which the witch trials occured is hardly discussed or acknowledged by the population of Salem. The only time its even brought into the forefront is around Halloween time, and thats mostly due to the tourist influx they get. So, keeping that in mind, I would find it more disturbing when a group of actual witches do descend onto this town and show those people what the real horror of dark witchcraft would be like.

But thats just me.

Lords Of Salem is more interesting to me than the other projects that Zombie had lined up. I don't like him using a white trash approach all the time but it seems to fit in his other movies. The people in Salem and around that area are different though. It would take me out of the film if he uses the same approach . I think he might have to change his style a bit.
Also he will be portraying Witchcraft as satanic ritual instead but he'll have no problem getting that down . Salem during the last couple weeks of October is a must every year if you live near MA

I'm hoping he won't go down the white-trash path on this one. Just wouldn't fit.

I'm glad he abandoned the Blob remake over a original movie.

Just had a thought. Instead of his typical white trash, he will just have foul mouthed, dirty, stringy haired fisherman. :o

Please Rob, please, do this right.

C'mon, give him the benefit of the doubt. Lets what and see what this film is really gonna be before shredding it. He's gonna be on tour until at least December, so its too soon to judge anything

IMO, Rob Zombie is a great director, and I honestly don't care what people say about him. This just sounds like an awesome subject for Zombie to tackle, so I'm just so excited to see this. Defenitely going to be one of my most hyped horror films.

Same here but at the same time i'm still thinking that was just a BS joke. I could be wrong of course.

I'm a big Zombie fan(except I didn't care for Halloween and not sure if I want to see the sequel) since his White Zombie days but I also hope he stops with the white trash characters. I want to see him evolve as a director.

He said in a past interview quite a few years ago that people always label him as only liking horror because of the influence on his music but he says some day he would love to do a comedy or a western. I say bring on of those genres.

I think we can all agree that Halloween and more specifically H2 were missteps for Rob, but moving back into original works will be a positive move for him. As I've always said, Zombie really shines when he does original works.

The directors cut was ok, I enjoyed certainly, but I honestly don't think its his strongest works. I would definitely thought Zombie should just keep with his original ideas. Remakes are too tough when you have a definite vision.

Zombie talks a bit about the film deal that he got:

"If you want to make a movie, if you have an idea we will give you complete control over casting, the script, the final cut of the picture - everything. You never heard that. Nobody hears that. Everything's a battle, but these guys were like, 'That'll be our deal with you.' And I was like, 'Great!'"

Sherri is going to be one of the witches, who wants to bet on it?

The film description first made me think of this:

At least we know that Rob will make a better movie than this. He does good work with original concepts.

Yeah I'm cool with her being one of the witches as long as the other witches are good too. This whole project has me really optimistic. In Zombie I Trust

oh man, remember when Sarah Jessica Parker was hot? good times.

I'm interested in this film and since it appears that it will be taking place in the past hopefully there won't be any redneck/white trash characters or excessive swearing...hopefully.

Rob just released the first teaser image (other than that poster) on his film blog:

Here it is! The first image from the film THE LORDS OF SALEM and that's all I will say. Okay, I will say that the scene that involves this face is very painful.

I have a good feeling about this one. I actually really like House of 1000 Corpses and Devils Rejects though. with the Haloween Movies I can really take or leave them.
