Lords_Of_Salem_3_21_13.jpg

Also Bloody Disgusting is reporting that the initial release on the 19th is limited to New York, Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia, DC, Miami, Dallas, Houston, and Detroit.

They cite no source for that though.

Hopefully it comes to St. Louis in short order!

I am so pissed off at this movie.... but I'll probably see it.

I'm a screenwriter and was knee deep in a project called SALEM. It was about a group of teens summoning witches in a saence... one because possessed and kills them all.

Anyways.... Right about being 3/4th done, I find out about this movie. Had to toss mine in the trash. =(

It's showing at a theatre near me. I'll be there on Friday

Don't give up on it man! I'm sure you're characters aren't much like RZ's and its not like movies about the Salem witches have never been made before or will be in the future.

I saw it tonight, in downtown Salem. (I just moved here! :bomb:) Sorry, I knew what I was walking into but this movie was terrible. Seriously, it is SO bad. Seeing my neighborhood in it was its only redeeming feature. :(

Could well be a "so bad it's good" experience though, if you're expecting it :hmm

Thanks for the words. Problem is that certain things turn people off in the studio system. If this turns out crap, mentioning "Salem" or "witches" in a meeting will be instant "tough sell". Might go back to it one day though =)

Apparently some theaters are doing a 10:00 showing tonight. I think I'm gonna check it out tonight.

2 questions.

1. Did you like House of 1000 Corpses or Devils Rejects?

2. Is this at least better than his crappy Halloween films?

Everyone is telling me because I DO NOT like anything else Zombie has done that I will like this for some reason, because its opposite of what he usually does.

It depends. I've read the movie has a lot of dream-like stuff that you'd find in Itallian horror from Argento and Fulci. I can see that turning people off if you don't like that kind of stuff.

He played around with the trippy Italian stuff in Halloween 2, like that one reaaaallllllyy weird dream scene.

It's playing near me on one of it's whopping 350 theaters, so I'll see it over the weekend.

I think Corpses is vapid twisted fun, Rejects is pretty great, and both of his Halloweens are awful.

I can guarantee you he wasn't going for "so bad it's good" with this, I've heard the Argento/Italian horror comparisons as well, and that this was Zombie's attempt at making an art film.

It looks fairly interesting and unique, so hopefully he can redeem himself a bit after what he did to Halloween...twice.

Never saw any of 'em. This had potential, but I have seen student films better put together. Pretty dull story concerning Senator Kelly from the first X-Men movie uncovering a conspiracy involving an ancient order of witches, and a local radio DJ that.... well, I won't spoil it but keep an eye out for the ridiculous "baby," lol...

Yeah, about an hour of boring setup and then half an hour of them trying too hard to be shocking.

Well that's a bummer. I've been a fan of his since I was in Middle School, so I'm still going to give it a chance.

It has some bizarre imagery in that works well, but it drags a bit and it didn't inspire much passion in me. It left me kind of indifferent. I actually wish it had been weirder. It feels like it's one polish away form being a really cool Argento/Fulci riff. As is, it's just not quite there.

There was about 8 or 9 people there for the noon screening and, hilariously, it was all guys about my age (30-ish) who were there by themselves.

I liked it. I've never been so ****ing confused by a movie. That midget demon thing made my brain hurt. I feel like it was really well shot and I liked all the imagery, but the performances weren't always up to par and Zombie still isn't fantastic with dialogue. Still, I enjoyed it for what it was.

This movie isn't playing anywhere near me. Not even at the 16 screen Imax theater in the next town over.

Saw it the other day. It was pretty boring and felt like a bad attempt at much better horror films from the '60s and '70s.

It just kind of sits there the whole runningtime.

Just my opinion.

I definitely felt like there should have been more going on. There's a bit too much atmosphere and not enough happening with the story.

Yeah, for as weird as it is, it's rather inert. There's no sense of urgency.
