The Maintenance Thread! [Don't make a new thread, or I cut you-Drak]

I don't know what kind of "Maintenance" Hype is doing or has done but it ain't doing a damn bit of good. I'm getting real sick of Hype going down every 5 minutes. I can't even write a one sentence post without this place going down or it taking 15 minutes just for it to post.

I'm seeing just the opposite. All the maintenance seems to be working. The Hype is working better for me than it has in weeks. I'm only getting occasional slowdowns rather than waiting forever for every single page or post.

Seriously, all that was done was optimizing tables, deleting some cached information as well as old threads and such, and reorganizing some tables.

It's been a mixed bag for me. It's been less frequent for me, but when it hits, it hits hard. Hopefully the host fixes the problem soon. I've been playing with a virgin install of vB 3.5, and sadly, I'm getting too accoustomed to it.

Drak or Malice, I don't know if you hold this type of data, but last night around midnight, there were only 538 people on the boards and it was going really slow for me, like a page took 7 minutes to load slow. But it seems to go faster when there's a lot more traffic, like now. Is that normal?

I always feel kinda weird about the "Drakon Hype" being used. I made it as a gag, and it's basically a port of the skin I have on my site, except, well a little more "me" in it. It wasn't originally meant to be on the site for more than a few hours. I honestly had no idea how much people would want to use it.

I think it looks good, but it's still kinda weird seeing a vanity project being used like that, especially when there's a choice of others to use. It'd be like seeing your face all over billboards around town.

As for the server switch, yes, everything is just going to be moved. It'd be like saving pictures to a CD to take to another computer.

I got a question guys. Before, when you click on a category like Batman, you go to a list of the different batman boards and there use to be text in parinthesis or whatever that would say how many people are looking at the boards like this: (20 People viewing this board)

Now it doesn't come up for me...was that something taken off?

So when is this happening because this slow crap is getting old fast. It's taken me 20 mins just to get to this point from my home page and I came straight to this thread. God only knows how long it will take for this to post.

Exactly, THIS IS MY FOURTH ATTEMPT TO REPLY TO THIS THREAD! Every time I try to post something it times out. Considering I work for a web development company I would assume our connection is pretty damn fast.

We've all been patient but this has been going on for months now. Costs like these aren't great but at the end of the day your ad revenue is determined by traffic. If this carries on for much longer people WILL start leaving the site. It's better to spend the money now and keep the income coming in.
