As we all know, most action movies kill off the villain, particularly comic book movies. Should Favreau follow the trend and kill of the Mandarin at the end of this Iron Man film? Personally, I think they should leave the Mandarin's fate ambiguous, similar to the way Sam Raimi handled Dr. Octopus' fate at the end of Spider-Man 2. And since they have planned a three-film storyline they could plausibly bring back the character in the third film.

No, I think that Mandarin should and will survive because he is Iron Mans Arch enemy and I can´t imagine Iron Man without Mandarin as a enemy

I don't care too much about less important villains, but an archenemy should never ever EVER be killed off (unless it's the final movie in the series or something) Batman '89 made a big mistake killing off the joker, and the Spider-Man series keeps doing the same, but it just isn't necessary. Look at how the X-men series was able to keep Magneto through all 3 films, Luthor has been in almost every Superman movie, Fantastic Four are bringing Doom back for the second film, and even this time the Joker is supposed to stay
around until the third film in Nolan's Batman. That's how I think it should be done. Not saying don't kill off any villains at all though, just don't make it
too much of a habit. Again, using Batman as an example: Ra's Al Ghul died (He'd be easy to bring back if they really wanted, though) while Scarecrow, Falcone, and Zsas lived.

I think it's safe to assume that Stane is the archnemesis for the trilogy, so how would we feel if Mandy gets knocked off in the first? Who else would we want to see IM go up against? I don't think I'd mind if Mandy were killed off in the first.

In that case, it could go either way for me, as long as they don't make it a habit of killing of the villain EVERY. SINGLE. MOVIE.

If I had any say in it, I would end the first film with Stark being unable to implicate Stane with any crime and the Mandarin's fate being left ambiguous. In the second film, have Stane be the primary villain with the Spymaster and Titanium Man being thrown into the mix. Just like the comics, I would have Stane commit suicide because he is unable to accept defeat. Then in the third film, bring back the Mandarin.
