She was only 5 or 6. She'd go outside for a few hours a day. We were trying to keep her in today because of storms, but she got out the door and we couldnt get her to come back in and I had to leave for work. My neighbor found her laying in his yard. She had no broken bones no scratches or marks. She wasnt foaming at the mouth or vomiting. And the ground around her wasnt scratched up. She looked like she just layed down and died. She looked like she was sleeping.
Vet said she could have been bit by a snake or it could have been a heat stroke.

was there lightning in those storms? if all the ground was wet, lightning striking the ground near by could have done it too.She was only 5 or 6. She'd go outside for a few hours a day. Last I saw the 90's Spidey series was on Netflix. I watched a few episodes and that show does not hold up well.

It hadnt stormed since early early this morning. She died some time after 3:30 pm cause she wasnt laying in the yard when I left for work at 3:30 pm.
My vet said that recently they've been having to treat a lot of dogs and cats for snake bites. They were actually treating a dog for a copperhead bite when I was in there arranging to have my cat cremated. My cat liked to hunt and I live right beside some woods. So its definitely possible that she just crossed paths with a snake.
One small bit of comfort is that she didnt look like she suffered when she died. She looked peaceful. Her being hit by a car or poisoned or being killed by a mean person was always my biggest fear, but she doesnt seem to have suffered that.
