The Master Of Magnetism":The Official Magneto/Erik Lehnsherr Thread'

I think Erik's middle name might still be Magnus in the films, but it's left unsaid..

Its from page 5! haha! I am a physic!

That scene is gonna be frickin' awesome!..lol.

Magneto flying!  Even if he just looks like an ant in that pic.

I suspected hed hover near the bridge since its a big chunk of metal. Both films had a scene with him doing such (Statue of Liberty, Cerebro II)

The main site says he can use the earths magnetic waves to hover also... as long as its done in a classy fashion imo... abusing that could get cheesy.

I always figured in the movies, he was wearing metal so he could fly. Because in the prison as he broke out, he had to remain on the little disc.

No..although it was said somewhere he had metal heels in his boots, there's no way he could raise only his metal heels and keep his entire body in an upright position.

In the movies he levitates by pushing himself off metal - magnetism can attract or repel. By repelling the metal beneath him, he raises himself in the air. So far he has only levitated where there is metal beneath him. The plastic prison had no metal so he had to use the metal he extracted from Lorio to create a disc to stand on.

The site says he can now also repel himself from the earth's magnetic field, thus he doesn't need metal beneath him to fly.

Comicbook Magneto rides the earth's magnetic field, although Polaris flies by cancelling out the effect of gravity with a powerful downwards magnetic force. Experiments show that if you apply a magnetic field downwards that is powerful enough to overcome the pull of gravity, then you fly. Isn't that how mag-lev trains work?

Even the prof will be able to fly in X3.

lol. ;) with the help of jean as it seems in the second trailer where she (jean) effortlessly levitate her mentor. i wonder howd that go? too bad for xavier... :(

So, how about that cool ending with him? I'm really happy they gave an out for the cure being temporary, so they can still bring back him, Rogue, and Mystique.

Yeah I thought that was cool at the end with Magneto. Me and my friends had a discussion outside the theater about that. I don't think it suppresses their powers forever.

I would've loved to have seen Magneto {Force Field} in the live action flims . like in The comics & TAS .

I am too. I just would have loved to see his reaction to moving the metal chess piece. You can tell though in that scene that he knows something is going on inside of him...that is why he reached out to move it with his powers and not his fingers.

I still want to know what he was doing in Montreal and Lisbon of all places. Just chillin' before game time?

Yes. Magneto is one of the most powerful mutants in the world. There aren't many mutants who are so aware of their powers. Having lived quite a long time, he would have to be one of the mutants who are fully aware of their abilities extents and limits. At first I thought that it was only he who was getting his powers back... because they were what he prided more than anything in the world, and because his body became so adapted to them (which also relates to him being so powerful)... but everyone is saying it's a temporary cure. I'm not sure which one is right...
