It deserved to be destroyed. In Superman II...the citizens picked up crap off the street and tried to stop Zod, Non, and Short haired Chick.....but when Nukey attacks...they're all like "Ok, you can have the girl...we don't really mind."

But that Superman could repair things just by looking at it.

And what did it get him...nada....bumpkis.....not a thing-a-rino. You woulda thought the Chinese would have given him a break on firecrackers or something....but no, they didn't even send him some chicken chow mein soup when he was feeling sickly. No wonder he never repaired anything again.

So he didn't even have to worry about collateral damage.

No one worried about that Tom Cruise movie.
