And with which should we begin?

The periwig. In an act of defiance I wear one when I'm out in public.

For men: white jeans, clogs and platform clogs, pants flared at the hip, ties and shirts with pictures on them, skinny ties (even Timberlake couldn't bring those back for more than one season).

For women: Flared and layered skirts, shoulder padded blazers, bra tops (that was an idea that I'm sure looked great on paper, but not in real life), French cut bikinis, shorts with hosiery, baggy flowing "skorty" dress trousers.

I'm fond of the handlebar moustache.

Or not.

Anybody who visits this thread and doesn't vote for the second-last option is missing the entire point of the internet.

I wish "hairy legs for women" had made it on the poll. I would have gone for that.

The cape. The MAN capes in general:

Opera cape, rain cape, etc cape.

Exposed female breasts. I can't post pictures, but the French upper class women of the 18th century would wear extremely low cut dresses that left one or both breasts exposed. Breasts for a time weren't viewed as evil inappropriate things that will corrupt the hearts and minds of men and children. With the developed world's idea of certain parts of the body being dirty or "inappropriate" I doubt that's a style that will ever come back.

I'd love for full 3-5 piece suits and dress hats to be brought back for everyday wear. There is something nice about grown men wearing suits and not dressing like adolescents all the time. I love wearing a full suit with a vest and the whole shebang, but today there are few events that I can wear a full suit to.

Source please ? I've never heard of that. Exposed breasts, maybe in brothels or by courtesans in private...

Edit : nevermind, found the info but it is not exactly as you describe hence my interrogation :)

The mustache made famous by Charlie Chaplan but immortalized by Hitler. Good effing luck trying to bring that back. Michael Jordan couldn't even do it, and everyone wants to be like Mike.

Good point. Hitler stuff is generally "out" at the moment, though I have noticed his trademark "nothing on the sides, slick on top" haircut is currently enjoying a hipster renaissance.

The bare breasts point is an interesting one. In Europe, it's still perfectly acceptable in the right setting. I think that women now have greater opportunity to expose their breasts in public without comment, than men do to wear bowler hats.

The 18th century pirate look needs to comeback full force.

Bustles. I don't know it would be possible for a woman to sit down while she was wearing one of those.

Snuff is illegal...if we're thinking about the same kind of snuff. I'd say the tricorn would be hard to bring back.

To clarify, by "snuff" I mean fine tobacco ground for sniffing.

Would anyone else in here not relish 80's style neon clothes coming back?

Will sneakers ever have pumps on them again so I can dunk a basketball?
