It wouldn't surprise me if this is the case. The last two barely made money before hitting home media, and now this newest one fans already decided they hate it based on the casting.

Fox obviously wants to keep this film,(If you remember Marvel offered to let them keep Daredevil in exchange for FF) but they don't want to produce bombs just to hold on to the license so maybe it would be in their best interests to bring it "back to formula".

I hope this is true. I wish fox would just sell this back to marvel/disney.

Personally I hope this rumor is false, because I really actually want to see what Trank comes up with for the Marvel's first family.

Oh, he didn't say this?!:o

Not everyone on the planet is all doom and gloom about this movie. Though you wouldn't know it from the statements made here.

But then a couple years back, Fox started to seemingly make a turnaround with their genre properties; both Rise of the Planet of the Apes and X-Men: First Class ended up pretty darn good, and The Wolverine continued the streak.

He's correct about Fox since Rothman left. They haven't made a bad superhero movie in 5 years.

That's true but don't say it out loud. :oldrazz:

They haven't made a superhero movie in the last 5 years than isn't an X-men movie, which had a previous history of success. Just because they can get that right (again) doesn't mean they can do the same for the rest.

They also haven't exactly made The Avengers, much less The Dark Knight. Though I do love me some First Class.

Consider a hypothetical in which Fox has decided to scrap it. How would they act? They would want to give every impression it's still alive because there could still be some money, licensing rights for the X-men etc. on the table.

I believe the strongest evidence I've seen yet that Fox might be done with this is the casting press release that was drafted in the late hours Friday evening in a clearly desperate attempt to keep us (and Marvel) believing this is still alive (http://forums.superherohype.com/showpost.php?p=28195405&postcount=489).

At this moment, I am nearly certain one of two conditions exist:

1. Fox has already decided to give up and they're trying to get as much as they can before turning out the lights.

2. Production is continuing very cautiously with large doubts behind the scenes and the possibility of discontinuation at any point.

Based on everything I've observed (even prior to this rumor) I don't believe it's possible that this project is continuing full force (if it were, filming would already be starting).

It's also apparent they've been cautious to the point of almost paranoia when you see the progress of the Spider-Man reboot that was announced not long after this one.

How many times can they delay this up until the rights revert I wonder

They should have made the deal to keep Daredevil for Marvel getting Galactus and the Silver Surfer back, it seemed like they already had a plan for that franchise, now they lost it, and may soon lose Fantastic Four too

I think someone should take The Incredibles & change their costumes to the Fantastic Fours just because they can

Check the front page of this website. The Incredibles 3D is coming. Hopefully in theaters by next year. If FOX didn't have enough reasons to abandon production, Disney/Pixar just gave them another one.

I saw the news & FOX also has to worry about The Avengers 2 & Jurassic World & Ted 2 & a movie starring The Rock. A 3D re release is the least of their worries

I've come to believe they're working on an 8 year schedule.

ROTSS started filming in August 2006 and was released June 2007, so I think they're looking at dates that require them to start by August 2014 and/or have the film out by June 2015.

But I think we're getting pretty close to it. I think by April 21 we'll either know that they're moving ahead or giving up.

If they push the date off again, I think the chances they'll ever film anything will be slim.

If were talking about 2015's movies don't forget Star Wars episode 7!

Hmmmm, how interesting would it be if Disney announced a June 18th or maybe June 11th release date for the Incredibles 3D?

Not saying that's likely, but it sure would be interesting.:cwink:

The fact that the ultimate FF film is sitting out there, waiting for a release date - that's a big problem for FOX. Inside/Out is the Pixar film currently scheduled to go against the Trank FFINO reboot, but with the multiple production delays and the competition, there's a pretty good chance it will be moved. FOX has to be very concerned that Disney/Pixar will shadow the Trank film with the Incredibles 3D release, making every potential release date a bad one for the studio.

I'm thinking the same, that we're looking at something in the 7-8 year range. Elektra, for instance, was released in 2005, and that reset the clock on the Daredevil rights, which ultimately expired in 2012, so that was about 7 1/2 years. So mid 2015 would probably be the latest for Fox to put out a new Fantastic Four movie.

I sincerely hope this film falls through, though. I want this franchise in the MCU. It's just not as good as it can be on its own. Nevermind the horrible idea Fox has had of mixing the X-Men and Fantastic Four together in one universe. Now that would be awful! The Fantastic Four just wouldn't work at all in a universe where the only other super-powered beings around are Mutants.

I agree with you FF and X-Men don't mix well! also who wouldn't love to meet FF at Disneyworld!
