The new Q

They should just make one of those guys from the tech room in Casino Royale the new Q.

I think Bill Nighly will make a good Q.

Well Q is a staple of the Bond mythos... I think somewhere along the road they need a new one.

I don't think there was anything THAT unique about Llewelyn's performance that the character should never be used again... I mean, he did a great job, but that'd just be a shame.

Thats just it. His performances weren't anything to thank God for, its just that he was a staple, appearing in the majority of Bond flicks, spanning over 40 years...as an actor being attached to something that long definately deserves recognition and appreciation but let's not forget, his role was minor.

Just bring back John Cleese for cripes' sake! He was a great Q IMO, and I think that it would be good to have a little comic relief (although please, let's have some restraint). If they have a solid script with good dialogue, they should not have to worry about Q being "cheesy." Cleese played the character brilliantly, and seeing as they brought Judi Dench back as M, I think that it's only fair that they bring Cleese back as Q. I don't know if it's true or not that there was a fallout between Cleese and the producers, but if there was, they just need to work it out. It's not like producers and actors never patch things up, if there is a situation in need of patching here at all.

John Cleese likely won't return (there was a falling-out between him and producers). And frankly, I think he'd be out of place in the CraigBond world, since things aren't based around corny dialogue and jokes.

Q, when cast for BOND 2.2, needs to be different than we've seen him before. The old, grumpy guy was done perfectly by Desmond Llewellyn, and anybody who tries that is going to pale in comparison. Somebody needs to step in and reinvent it.

Agreed on everything. For me, Q died with llewellyn, Cleese was miscast as his successor. And since gadgets will propbably not be as important in the series anymore, we definitely DON'T need a comedic Q.

Alan Rickman would rule. he plays that kind of character so well, him annoyingly bantering with bond would rock

Rickman is a bit too well-known now. Hell, I tought Cleese was too famous when he got the role of Q's assistant in TWINE!
