The new "Spirit" movie poster is out. You may now return to your daily lives.

With that font, those colors and the snow, it might as well be just another Sin City poster.

OK, so the credits in the middle are near impossible to read, we can hardly see the hero, he's surrounded by promotional materiel for the film he's appearing in, it looks like sin city, and 3 SWAT guys are sneaking up behind him.

Am I following correctly?

Yep.

I don't frigging know why the people at Lionsgate think that that orange sunset lighting works well on the characters/posters, thematically or visually.

The least they could do is throw some fricking blue light on the guy.

Jesus Titty ****ing Christ that's one busy poster.

"He's Something The World Needs"

Not under your direction, Frank. Not under your direction.

Personally I like they lay out and shading of the poster.

Well, they did have plenty of Sin City posters to study for how to do the shading.

Poster is too busy. I would have liked to have seen more Eisner-inspired posters. This orange overly photoshopped stuff is ugly.

What does this film have to do with Will Eisner...? :wow:

There is hardly any Eisner I haven't read, and I actually mean read... not Googled factoids or quotes about to sound knowledgable like some on here... and this film is about 10% Will Eisner. It has condensation and bi-peds in it and takes place in a city. Other than that, it isn't Eisner in the least.

Thats a real shame of a poster imo. Ive really quite liked all the other promotional posters for this so far. Especially the first 2 i think it was.

But this is just not very good. Final poster and all theyve done is take the other posters and stick em on this one. The swat guys in the background just made me laugh. Looks like hes been caught unaware and is about to be shot in the back, or just tackled by the swat team.

Not very impressed.
Shame.

Yeah. This is a pretty strange idea for the final push for the film, poster-wise.

It's as much of an "advertisement for their advertisements" as it is an advertisement for the film.

that's why it's cheap. it takes all of the posters, and mooshed them into one big poster.

it was def. made by the studio, the spirit just doesnt appeal to people, they dont know who or what he is, they do however remember sin city and when frank millers attached, they want to stress all of that so that more people will go see it. they dont care how it reflects on the character

Years later, the way they pushed this movie as Sin City 2 should be highly remembered.

That poster is bad (at conveying Wil Eisner's Spirit).....but is perfect for it's real purpose (to confuse people into thinking they are going to see Sin City 2).

While I like this poster it is true that Lionsgate could have made posters from stills of the movie that convey Will Eisner's Spirit art. There is a moment seen in a clip from the movie that conveys this Eisner cover and they could have easily made a very cool poster out of it.

This picture from the film also conveys Eisner's art.

They could have made easily a poster of it similar to this manip.

That would have been cool but I understand that Lionsgate's movie promotional department are more concerned with appealing to the larger audience of movie-goers that made Rodriguez and Miller's Sin City movie successful than worrying about what comic book readers are gonna think.

It sad that what you say is true. The studio is really, really pathetic.
