I know there was a thread about the avatars but I wanted to discuss some more stuff about the overall look of it. As we all know the new update will be released world wide on November 19th and will feature all sorts of stuff. Here is a link: www.xbox.com/en-us/live/nxe/

I'm really excited to see the use of avatars in the arcade games. I was reading an article that stated that some of the arcade games will be updated to invlove the avatars. I think they even had a picture of UNO with the 4 avatars reacting to one another.

Also I like the fact that I will now be able to stream videos onto my HDTV from netflix using the Xbox 360.

I just want to hear some other opinions on the new update, whether they are good or bad. :woot:

So it's like Wii avatars pretty much...
How do I get this update?

i heard when you put a game disk the new update transfers everything so you dont ever have to put the disk back in or something, i think it was just a rumor but a cool thought.

I believe there was an article stating that you could download the game onto your hard drive to make some load zones alot shorter (kinda like what the ps3 does) but they also said that you would still need to have the disc in the drive in order to verify that you still own the game. Sounds kinds stupid to me because you still physically have the disc but I guess they want to prevent someone from buying a game, downloading it to the hard drive, then returning the game for alot of store credit. I haven't seen anything officialy on xbox.com that confirms this.

Also I just read an article about blu-ray coming to xbox 360. The article is from October 8, Pretty interesting read:

I'm looking forward to the update. Avatars don't mean much to me, but I'm psyched to be able to stream Netflix movies through to my HDTV. Hopefully they will have some HD movies as well. I'm kinda screwed on saving the game to the hard drive and playing from there since I have the small drive.

Yeah I hope they have HD movies to stream too, and I like the avatars only because of the 3D friends list and how it actually makes achievements worth while, not just for bragging rights.

read this morning that it's been confirmed that the 360 will be able to stream High Def movies through Netflix. They will have about 300 available right away,

FREAKIN NICE!

jdlynch1 apologizes for the use of freakin however he did get overly excited when hearing the news.

I actually got a beta version of the d-load. It is brillliant. It makes glitchy games like Two Worlds run better on the HDD.

There's a homebrew version of this already up, that has no negative repercussions of using. The only thing is you won't be able to connect to live till it officialy comes out. But if you don't use live that often, and want to do the installs, then you can. You just throw it on a flash drive or cd-r and install on your x-box, from what I hear.

I can't wait! I really don't care too much about the sound issue but from what I have seen on getting friends together and talking while each other is in a different game and sending group invites is just great. The avatars look good too and with the new lineup of arcade games that will include peoples avatars I think the change over on November 19th will be a good one.

I'm really looking forward to the Netflix streaming, which is a fantastic idea.

I'm not really that into avatars for the Xbox, even though if they are half as adicting as Miis are, then I might like them. I have about a bajillion Miis saved on my Wii.

I have the zip of the beta version. Who wants it?

How much does it cost to watch the movies?

I saw that also. I don't see the point in trying to get it early, but some people seem to want to.

Think about it hard, since it seems Microsoft are taking those leaks seriously.

Anytime something is leaked early like that, it's never legit. :o

How does the netflix thing work?

You have to have an XBL account, I'm not sure if Silver will do. Then you need to have a Netflix account and be paying for any of the services which include streaming movies. Then you link the 2 and any movie in your queque that is available for streaming will show up on your xbox.

I just got an e-mail saying I've been accepted into the trial of this. So I'll let everyone know how it works with full online capabilities as soon as it goes up for me tomorrow.

Here's a quick review of it...

Netflix- AWESOME

Installs- AWESOME

Avatars- A complete non-issue

Marketplace- Much better, and easier to navigate

Being able to delete games off your list- Great feature. Goodbye Yaris.
