I'd better get my swimming trunks. :o

This is going to be a touchy subject I can sense.

There are those who will never be convinced it's real and those who think it will not be a problem. They are not likely to change their minds so easily.

It's hard to accept that what is going on is man made, even in part, but it is happening.

and there are people that just don't care about the environment at all.

There will always be those people. Typically they fall into the "do not think it will be a problem" catagory and won't change. Ever.

The fact there are people who ignore global warming is occurring only shows one thing, the ignorance (often willful ignorance) of said people. Global warming is happening, it's not the first time and it won't be the last time.

Now, as to the cause(s) of global warming and man's impact on it, that is certainly open for discussion. But denying it exists to begin with is like saying water isn't wet.

Just for context:

It's not, perhaps, quite as dramatic as it sounds. April saw the ninth heaviest snow cover on record measured in the Arctic, covering the Pole in more of the white stuff than it's seen in a long ol' time. But by May, temperatures increased and almost half the cover melted.

It's worth pointing out that this isn't the first time there's been a meltwater lake at the North Pole, nor is it the worst (it's also worth pointing out that this is just at the pole, and not across the entire ice cap).

The Earth is going to warm, then its going to cool again, then it will probably warm back up and most likely cool back down. Theres nothing we can do to stop it or change it. Even if every human on the planet lived as environmentally friendly as possible, the ice caps would still melt, now maybe they dont melt as fast? Who knows, but the Earth is gonna be around LOOOOOONG after we are. Humans belong to the earth, not the other way around. It will dictate what happens to it, not us.

I dont think people do and if they do, its because environmental whackos with an agenda to sell you plastic bottles and hand bags have twisted the message. They are saying that the earths climate is changing because of humans, when the Earths climate was going to change regardless. History has proven this.

Like you said, the debate is how much we are adding to this inevitable change, not rather or not its happening at all. That message hasnt gotten out clear enough, again, due to individuals who want to profit from it.

In the millions of years though the Earth has been cooling and heating on it's own terms, in a natural progression and regression. Who knows what hundreds of years of carbon dioxide and chemical air pollution has done to alter that once natural state of fluctuation. Not to mention the hundreds/thousands/hundreds of thousands of years our species will still be here.

We see everyday what man has done to the natural ecosystem of this planet. It may be as small as the migration patterns of animals changing to something as large as the caps melting, large oil spills, the extinction of animals due to little to no hunting regulations in regions, etc.

I'm just saying the excuse that "well its the earth, this stuff always happens!" is just a way to once again place blame on something else rather than ourselves.

But then there are individuals who would profit from having you believe that man made pollution is not an issue at all.

The question, to me, is: Are we doing ourselves (and subsequently, future generations) any favors? (In regards to the way humans abuse the environment)

We're not doing humanity any favors but I have little doubt the earth will rebound and move on like always. With or without humans. Nothing we've done or can do will ever approach the damage that's been done by other natural or space-borne disasters.

I gave up on human beings a long time ago as petty wastes of my time. Most of humanity doesn't deserve to live anyway. I say bring on the next ice age.

^ and that's why Godzilla smashes buildings. To save the ecosystem

Yep! Because I am a force of nature in every sense of the word force.

FAKE.

Everybody knows there's giant holes at the north and south poles :o

We all know they are the portals for the Kaiju
