It was just unfunny to the point where some sketches were annoying. It was bad. Thankfully a couple months later Hamm hosted his second show which was probably the best of the season.

Especially Hamm and Buble.

The only funny part of the January Jones episode was the "1950s Guide to throwing a party" sketch.

Does anyone know who will be the season premiere host? I think I read that Jon Hamm is coming back to host sometime this season for a third time.

New cast member (and possible person to play Obama when Fred Armisen leaves):

It's about time as Keenan can't play all of the African Americans that Armisen doesn't play. As for Keenan, I've seen some highlights again and I like Keenan. Hopefully he hits like Keenan and Tim Meadows (who despite being a part of the Sandler/Spade/Farley/Hartman crew shot to popularity during the Ferrell/Shannon/Gasteyer/Kattan/Hammond group) and not like Dean Edwards.

Those are great, subtle impressions of Will Smith and Denzel that he does.

Sweet, he looks like he'd make for a good addition.

Looking forward to the one sketch he'll feature in every 2 or 3 shows lol...

:hehe:

Seriously though, I think he'll be a bit player this season and then be groomed to play Obama next season, because I expect this to be Fred Armisen's last season. He'll be a major player during the 2012 elections.

I dare you to watch the January Jones episode from last season and say that.

i have seen that episode. i still stand by my statement. i would still like to watch that over jersey shore or any of the twilight movies.

Jersey Shore is WAY funnier than January Jones man.

And they aren't even trying.

I've got the 24th September as the return date here...

Aint it the truth?

Two years ago they had a girl that played Christina Hendricks from Mad Men in probably two sketches then the seasons over and they fire her.

Cassie Wig?

You mean Casey Wilson?

I wouldn't be too surprised if Jenny Slate was fired. She just seemed very awkward in sketches. They need to give Abby Elliott stuff to do beyond impressions.

Abby Elliott was on the verge of being fired but is safe, according to Deadline Hollywood, while one of last year's newbies, Jenny Slate, may be out.

I wouldn't be sad to see Slate go. She never did anything for me.

Michaela Watkins should be brought back in. She was great

Slate was the one who cursed early on last season.

thank you

I'm sure they let the F bomb slip slid by. It was an unintentional mistake and it put SNL in the headlines

Abby Elliot is already funnier than her father, and that really isn't saying all that much due to her father being nothing more than a bit player during the Sandler-Farley-Spade-Hartman years.

Abby needs to be given a chance to show some more of her characters. But alas, SNL keep using their "old hand" Kristen Wiig for nearly every skit.

She's the John Cena of SNL it seems (for the woman).

When Poehler left and then the new girls were fired it was all Wig.

None of her characters were funny

"Uh huh"

deformed hands girls

target lady

vapid girlfriend

I don't mind Wiig, but I really think having her pushed into just about every single skit is burning the audience out of her. Especially when there is plenty of talent they can use.

Aunt Linda reviewing movies, Suze Orman, has to one up everyone woman....

Don't forget her worst: Gilly.

There are those that love her and think she's the best castmember.

The only thing I like her in is What Up With That?! since she doesn't talk.

Oh god, how the hell that Gilly skit has made more than one appearance really beats me!

EW.com has learned that Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) will host Saturday Night Live when the late-night comedy show returns to NBC on Sept. 25. (Katy Perry will be the musical guest.) Poehler, who was a member of the SNL troupe from 2001-2008, earned her fourth Emmy nomination this summer for playing Leslie Knope on Parks. The single-camera comedy from Greg Daniels and Michael Schur will begin its third year on NBC later this season.

SNL, which is about to begin its 36th year on NBC, will also add four featured players to the mix this season to help fill the void left by Will Forte. EW has confirmed they are actor/comedian Taran Killam, who’s appeared on Mad TV and How I Met Your Mother, Chicago-based comedians Paul Brittain and Vanessa Bayer, and newcomer Jay Pharoah, who has performed on BET’s “One Mic Stand.”

Hooray!
