The Office Season 6

I still love the show and these characters. But it's about time for Greg Daniels & Co. to start an end-date for the series.

this season is really ticking me off, they come back for a new episode then it stops for 2 weeks. its been this way since jan.

They had 12 straight weeks of 13 new episodes to open the season. Then there was the Olympics and time given off to let the cast film movies. Plus the episode order is a bit bigger compared to other comedies. If it was a standard 22 or 24 episode season some of those episodes from 2009 would've been used this year.

The show is back April 22 and will have 5 straight weeks to close out the season.

Agreed. :csad:

I love it, but I want it to end in another season or two before it grows stale and goes downhill. I would prefer it end on a high note.

aren't the one hour episodes counted as two episodes in the overall episode count? So there is still 22 weeks this show airs even though there are 26 or 28 episodes ordered in the season.

it got stale and went downhill last season. This season has so far been better but it will never be as great as it once was from season 2-4. Nowhere near close

There are 26 this episodes this season aired over 24 weeks. So they still could've shifted two weeks to this year.

I blame Parks and Rec. The Office is filmed a lot more like that than seasons 2-3 of The Office. The last episode, Happy Hour, was especially noticeable.

Happy Hour was one of the better episodes of the season. I would hardly say Parks and Recreation is a problem, especially since it was hardly a blip on anyone's radar last year, when The Office was at its lowest

The show still has the majority of the writers from the first/second season. They've only lost Michael Schur aka Mose who co-created Parks and Rec with Greg Daniels. Daniels works on both shows.

They've just run its course storywise. Pam and Jim are married and already have a kid, Dundler Mifflin went bankrupt, Michael quit and was rehired (he also dated Pam's mom), Jim was promoted to co-manager, Andy is on his second office relationship and Dwight is attracted to Pam's best friend. We've seen so many pranks and awkward moments that trying to top them makes them fall flat.

I think NBC boosted the episode order because it had great ratings but mainly to get to syndication faster since there were very few sitcoms on network TV a couple of years ago and only three that had great ratings (Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother and The Office). Season four was supposed to have 30 half hours but with the Writer's Strike only 19 were produced.

Hitch a ride onto Community, their first season is like The Office's second.

It was fine in Happy Hour because it worked with that. It's hard to explain but watch a Season 2 or 3 episode. Then a 5 or 6 one. Then a Parks and Rec. There's more in common with the latter two than the former two.

The only item they've yet to resolve (and to be fair, feels like they're waiting for the final episodes) is Michael's personal life. Finding someone for him to walk off into the sunset with - most likely Holly.

Went downhill last season my ass. The Michael Scott Paper Company storyline was awesome.

I wouldn't blame Parks and Recreation as causing creative issues for the Office.

I would say however, that Community and Modern Family have taken the "office concept" and run with it better than what the Office is doing right now.

IF people hate the new season of the Office then why do you still watch it ? I personally still loves this show

Although I too loved season five, I always found it strange they opted to not to end that season with the buy-out and Michael, Pam and Ryan's return.

that was horrible. The latter half of the season was significantly worse than the first half and this was a big part of it

"Broke" is by far the best episode in the series. :o

I agree. It was definitely the climax of the season. Although I think Michael seeing Holly again was a good way to end the season.

It did feel like season 5 episode Broke was not only the climax of the season but had Jim and Pam already married, could have very well been the climax of the series. Everything else that season was just falling action.

Yeah, totally agree. With some tweaking, I would feel pretty good about that being the end of the series.

I love the show, I love the characters and I'll watch it weekley until it stops airing. It could be next year or 10 years. The only thing that could get me to maybe not watch as much would be if they slowly lose the main cast and work in replacements like Greg has talked about doing once before.

My favorite episode of season 5 was the one when Michael and Dwight were at war with each other over the same client. Michael and Dwight's tactics were both hilarious and genius at the same time.

*spin move*

They always find a way to make the season finale something special, it could almost act as a series finale if the cast were to die in blimp accident gone wrong. If Company Picnic was given another half hour would be a great way to go out on top and have the people wanting more.

They had a huge order for last season (28 half hours over 26 weeks) and I thought the first 2/3s were a mixed bag but the final 1/3 starting with Golden Ticket and into the Michael Scott Paper Company storyline made me excited to tune into The Office again. "What was going to happen?"

This season after the amazing wedding episode has been in a decline which is too bad. But there are five episodes left and there is always next season.
