He escapes, Fury tells him he has been asleep for 70 years, he runs to see her grave. Or, he escapes, Fury tells him he has been asleep for 70 years, he asks if the woman he loved that he spoke with 2 minutes ago is dead or alive. That's all I wanted for the ending. Neither happened. All that happened was a 4 letter sentence then happy music with bright pictures started the credits. The ending had no weight to it.

Wow.

This is the biggest fail I have ever seen in the entire time browsing these forums.

You're actually going to sit there and tell me he ran AFTER he talked to Fury?

This is ridiculous.

EDIT: Oh, and I loved the movie. Best Marvel Studios film.

I thought he was more concerned with where he was. I thought it was pretty clear with the camera rotating 360 degrees, whilst taking in the urban NYC setting as well as his reaction to it.

Right. That is why he stopped running. That is when Fury walked over to him. That is the point when I wish he would have asked about her other than saying "I had a date," then the cheery credits roll.

That's what the freaking AVENGERS movie is for! To explore his emotions and thoughts on where he is and how he misses everyone from his time!

You're right, he doesn't care about her. He doesn't care if she is alive or dead. He doesn't want to see her anymore.

Just stop man.

The whole "I had a date" was to remind the audience how much he cared.

How can anyone actually complain about this film? I'm one of the most critical and cynical people regarding modern cinema, especially comicbook films. If you didn't like Cap, perhaps you should just quit watching movies. This hit ALL of the right marks. Hands down, one of the best Marvel Comic films since the original Blade.

He's not running scared for his life. He panicked because he doesn't know where he's at. Last he remembered he was in the arctic .... HOW ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH would he think "I'm in NY, I must run quickly to the graveyard??????"

Peggy was British, not American. She was never shown as living in New York, as if that were her actual home. Instead, she was there on loan from the British military, assigned to Phillips' command. One can infer from all that that her home is in the UK. Also, the last Steve knew, she was in the European theater coordinating the fight against Hydra. There is no logical reason that he would assume that she was buried in New York and automatically run off looking for her grave.

On top of that, which cemetery would Steve go to? There are dozens (hundreds?) in New York, any one of which might have Peggy's remains. Or none of them might. She could be alive or buried elsewhere.

He's captain america. He'd know exactly which graveyard to go to. :p

Captain America is about eating apple pie and giving the bullies of the world hell. When Cap says, "I had a date" it's a date not just with Peggy, but with a lady named AMERICA!

Just stop man.

Stop what? What I think? Because Rock Sexton says so? Rock Sexton must be right. Rock Sexton thinks that Steve Rogers became a ***** at the end. Rock Sexton thinks that Steve cares more about his well being than the well being of Peggy who he thinks believes that he is dead. Rock Sexton must be right.

So she wasn't on his mind? The man that would run into bullet fire and willing to give up his life suddenly became a scared dog? When in the movie did he run with his tail between his legs? How did he know that the walls weren't made of 10 feet of concrete? Why did he not bolt for the actual door the nurse came in? He knew all of it was fake. He knew he could escape. If he was truly a prisoner of war with his enemy that wanted to hurt him, his *** would have been tied up to a bed or in a cell. Why would Hydra give a **** to make him comfortable???

Look, Steve Rogers thought he was dead. Then he woke up on a bed, in a strange room, with the radio playing a game he has listened to before and a lady dressed in 1940s outfit came into the room. He knew something was wrong, and after two military men came in instinct took over, which was to get the HECK out of there. That's what happened when first you thought you died, then you were lied to by some stranger, and when he went outside it was like the world he knew was gone. I don't think it is fair to expect Steve Rogers to behave rationally, when everything around him was completely irrational.

Steve had a date with Peggy and AMERICA, now that he's back the world can finally be saved from the tyranny of millennials while simultaneously undoing 9/11.

I completely agree. But, you know he wanted to see Peggy. Then, Fury tells him it's 70 years later. What is the logical progession? He will want to see her right? Yes. He would want to see the woman he loved. I just didn't think the ending was powerful and it was a complete 180 when the cheery credits started rolling. I just did not like the ending.

Freaking out because you think you died and then wake up in a strange place and then learn that you're in a room with some people messing with your mind and THEN you find out youve been asleep for 70 years is hardly selfish..

Stop because your arguing for the sake of arguing ....

I never said a word about him becoming a *****. He became paranoid, you saw it in the film when the baseball game made him act hostile towards the girl in the room .... and it has nothing to do with caring more for his well being than Peggy. We already know he did when he says, "I had a date" .....

Seriously are you and Godman related? How old are you?

Survival is the No.1 thought on his mind until Fury told him what happened. Then it hit him like a ton of bricks, he was supposed to have a date ... i.e. "Damn I cared about that woman and now I'll most likely never see her again."

chaseter, Joss Whedon directed that scene so it explains why it may seem to be out of place or shoehorned into the story. The Joe Johnston movie ended when the kid used a painted trash can as a Cap shield on V-DAY. That's the only problem with this movie, it's a lead up to disappointment. I'm really not looking forward to Whedon speak. "So are you like the Captain of America or something."

But Rogers isn't stupid either.

Rogers realized something was wrong with the environment he was in. What does he do? He escapes. He doesn't escape and think, "Oh hey! Gotta go on my date now!" No. He needs to find out where he is.

That's when he realizes that he is in a whole new world, and is TOLD that he is 70 years in the future. That's when the question "Where am I?" is answered. Then he comes to realization that his very way of life has changed. The audience realizes this with the final line.

Rock, chase, SETTLE DOWN!!!!
