It's very funny and has that multiple flashback feel to it. If you know Spidey / Torch history it's funny. If you don't know Spidey / Torch history it's funny.

Definately pick it up. Slott does great work with the FF. He needs to leave Spidey and do the FF when Millar/Hitch are done.

Plus pick up the cancelled Slott / Thing series. Great stuff.

^^I completely agree, even though it obviously wouldnt be permanent i would love to see Spider-man join the FF, at least for a little while, that would be awesome. Btw, is the Spiderman/ Human Torch mini-series really as good as everyone is claiming? I'm thinking of picking it up. :yay:

Hard to add much more. The SPIDER-MAN/HUMAN TORCH: I'M WITH STUPID mini was the first work by Dan Slott I ever read and it made me a fan of his work thereafter. It is full of continuity nods, heart, some action and plenty of comedy. It never insults your intelligence or apologizes for nostalgia. It is available by digest but most shops may have copies in the back issue bin. I read it that way and it a lot better than digest, IMO. Slott's wrtten a lot of stories after (and before) this but for my money, this may still be his best work for me.

Slott's THE THING series is also a great read for simular reasons, and it lasted a too-short 8 issues. It should be available via trade by now.

I would also recommend the Jeff Parker/Mark Wieringo mini series SPIDER-MAN AND THE FANTASTIC FOUR. It was 4 issues long and had Spidey team up with the Four to repel an alien invasion. Spidey briefly fills in for Mr. Fantastic when he has to do a solo mission to help solve the threat. It's light and fun but I enjoyed it a lot. It would prove to be 'Ringo's final mini for Marvel (or anyone on Earth), and hardly anyone read it.

One other niggle about Millar's writing is that he has a tendancy to oversell bits and pieces he thinks are great. Some elements almost scream with a background angle of, "Isn't this awesome? Isn't it?" (such as when She-Hulk will literally state that something is hilarious). Even something that is genuinely interesting can be oversold. I do get that he enjoys the Four and I like a majority of the story thus far, but things are slipping the other way quickly if this second arc doesn't shape up.

I am amazed that Hitch surpassed my cynical expectations. I doubted he'd ship more than 4 issues in all of 2008. He's shipped 6 so far and we still have a few months left. Guess that is what happens when he draws a few less buttons, zippers, and pouches. ;)

Hey Corp! Could you merge the FF Comic threads with this one? That way we can try to keep the FF Comic in a neat package.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

I merged the two on the front page into this one. There are tons of FF threads and I'm not gonna merge all of them because it'd just clutter up this thread with a bunch of year-or-more-old garbage.

I almost did, since it was pretty recent. But I figured it had its own subject to a certain extent.

Sales aside, this is a pretty good period for the FF creatively; Millar/Hitch is interesting, and the current Cornell miniseries is a blast.

I think it's Future Sue, thus allowing an Invisible Woman to die in this arc.

FANTASTIC FOUR COSMIC SPECIAL
Cover by MATT
To be revealed at a later date. Check back to Marvel.com, the Marvel Mailer & Diamond Daily for more information.
64 PGS./Rated A ...$4.99

I like the fact that Hulk has Giant Sized, Thor has God Sized and the FF have COSMIC SIZED!

Wonder what this is all about?

:ff: :ff: :ff:

More importantly, why is the cover artist's last name classified information?

I think he's one of those people who's too pretentious to have a last name. You know, like Cher or Bono or Jesus.

Bryan hitch mentioned in an interview last month, that he and millar were doing a super-sized FF4 Christmas special, i think its safe to say this is it. I remember him saying that its going to be like 65-70 pages of story, NOT counting the ads.

That'll carry a $6.99 price tag, mark my words.

I'm glad the Invisible Woman is guest-starring in She-Hulk's comic for a while. I've missed the FF.

They do have a book, you know. It's not bad, either.

I try not to write off creators like that, but sometimes it's too hard not to. For example, I'll never buy a Daniel Way written book.

But it really is pretty enjoyable. Even for Millar. ;)

I'd rather miss the few good Millar books rather than keep trying his books and driving myself crazy 8 times out of 10.

Fair enough. You can always catch the trades at B&N on a rainy day. :)

I think the book's really good, millar's introducing some really far-out concepts thats right up the FF's alley. The only problem i have is Hitch's art. I love his art dont get me wrong,he was absolutely spectacular on Ultimates but for the FF4, i dunno his style is too hardcore and dark looking for the them i think. But i'm just nitpicking. i will say Hitch draws amazing backgrounds which is essential for an FF book.
