I was wondering what country songs were favorites of people on here? Personally I love the Christian Country Songs such as: 1.) Believe (Brooks and Dunn), 2.) What I love about Sundays (Craig Morgan), 3.) One Wing in the Fire (Trent Tomlinson), 4.) Bless the Broken Road (Rascal Flatts), 5.) When I get Where I'm Going (by Brad Praisley and Dolly Parton)...I just love how these songs and others just hit straight to home and have such a powerful message to me, other christians, and even non-believers. The testimonies from these artists are just amazing. I've met Rascal Flatts, Lonestar, Dolly Parton (got a kiss from her when I was like 10yrs old), and I would like to meet Trent Tomlinson in the near future.

Well what songs are your favorites?

Hmm...
Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks
Not Ready to Make Nice by the Dixie Chicks

"One Wing in the Fire" by Trent Tomlinson...Powerful message about a prayer to his dad.

All of those songs suck :down

Now Speed by Montgomery Gentry - I like

IF YOU GET THERE BEFORE I DO

I read a note my grandma wrote back in 1923
Grandpa kept it in his coat and he showed it once to me
He said boy you might not understand
But a long, long time ago
Grandma's daddy didn't like me none
But I love your grandma so

We had this crazy plan to meet
And run away together
Get married in the first town we came to and live forever
But nailed to the tree where we were supposed to meet instead
I found this letter
And this is what it said

If you get there before I do
Don't give up on me
I'll meet you when my chores are through
I don't know how long I'll be
But I'm not gonna let you down
Darling wait and see
And between now and then ‘til I see you again
I'll be loving you, love me

I read those words just hours before my grandma past away
In the door way of a church
Where me and grandpa stopped to pray
I know I'd never seen him cry in all my 15 years
But as he said these words to her
His eyes filled up with tears

If you get there before I do
Don't give up on me
I'll meet you when my chores are through
I don't know how long I'll be
But I'm not gonna let you down
Darling wait and see
And between now and then ‘til I see you again
I'll be loving you, love me
Between now and then ‘til I see you again
I'll be loving you, love me

This song chokes me up. Also,Don't Take The Girl.
I've seen Garth Brooks and Vince Gill. Met George Jones at a book signing.

No Billy Ray Cyrus love?! :cmad: :cmad:

Taiwarroz21 might as well put "I'm a hick" in his custom title.
Country music is nationalistic bull **** that is ment to stir up blind faith in America. I've listened to the lyrics, it's all about apple pie and tire swings now. Back in the day there used to be guys with balls that didn't care about that (Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson ect.) they were know as "outlaw country".
Country has done the oppisite of what the rest of the music world has done (get stronger). It's all about Chevy trucks and Jesus. Johnny Cash would roll in his grave.

Johnny Cash was a man of faith, with many songs regarding religion. I don't know where you've heard otherwise.

But aside from the obvious Hank Williams, Hank Williams Jr., Cash, Nelson, Emmylou Harris, etc. The Band was a great country/folk-rock band. Hell, their entire self titled album is filled with great country songs.

Considering the fact that Johnny Cash started out with Gospel Songs, and his faith was a big part of his career - I truly doubt that.

Probably most of Johnny Cash stuff (if you consider that Country).

I wasn't really talking about the religious thing, most of the stuff in the country music world is about how great america is.

I agree that a great list of songs. Especially the song "If You Get There Before I Do" that you listed the lyrics to. Yea I get emotional of songs with God and songs like these too.

I give you props! Good Choice!

Most of Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson's music.
Alan Jackson's Chattahoochee because it's a fun song to listen too.

i like all kinds of musical, and i think country music has great lyrical value. i like a lot of the songs you listed, and you're gonna get flack for the religious aspect, but i've always loved music that is inspirational, whether in a religious or other way.

ironically D-I-V-O-R-C-E by Tammy Wynette is one of my favorite songs of all time. you can hear the emotion in her voice when she sings and the lyrics are simplistic yet oh so powerful.

"Rodeo" or "The Thunder Rolls", Garth Brooks, Jo Dee Messina's version of "My Give A Damns Busted. and "Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy)" (I always play it for my fiancee) Big & Rich.

Excluding Johnny Cash, all country songs suck by default. It's in Webster's Dictionary. I mean it has to be.

some country sucks, a lot doesn't.

but i think the same could be said for any genre of music

some great country songs:
boy named sue- johnny cash
good hearted woman- merle haggard and willie nelson
crazy- patsy cline. just about any patsy cline song really
stand by your man- tammy wynette
you were always on my mind- willie nelson

yea I hear you on that note. My inspiration by the music is that some of the songs make me evaluate my relationship w/ God, friends, family, and the way I live life in general. The music that I like always strikes me by using pathos appeals. The stories in the music are great...It doesn't have to be country...but any music in general that catches you on a personal/emotional level.

Oh yea! "The Thunder Rolls" by Garth Brooks is a good one 2. Thanks for remembering me on that one.

Thurder rolls, lightning strikes, another love goes cold.
