Yea that's a good song right there! IDK I really can't stand women country singers. I don't think it sound good. I guess the only women that I think are good are Dolly Parton, Erika Jo, Kelly Pickler, and maybe Carrie Underwood.

the only 2 artists on that list i like are Dolly and Carrie. kellie's album is surprisingly far better than i thought it'd be, but Dolly and Carrie are in a different league than them two.

i can't believe you don't like female country singers, that's the heart of country music there (not dissing the guys of course). how can you not like Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, Emmylou Harris, Allison Krauss, the Carter Family? i mean i guess you don't have to like them, but at the very least, you should respect them.

I wonder how Taiwarroz21 feels about the Dixie Chicks...

never ever listened to them...won't ever. i really dont like most voices of the country women singers. Dolly Parton is good and a couple others, but never any Shania Twain or Dixie. LoL No indeed!

To be honest, I haven't heard any music by any of those artists. I would have to listen to them and see how that goes.

O thanks,I can never think of this very simplistic title.I've only heard it a few times but that song just gets to me.

yea it's got a good moral to it...."It's not what you get when you leave this world behind, but what you leave behind when you go."

It's pretty much saying: Hey it's not all about you, it's more about who you had a good impact on and helped find hope or just something simple like a "smile".
The song gets to me too...b/c it paints a picture of a passionate man of God (preacher) that cared enough to give a bible to a hooker so she could find hope thru Christ love. The 3 wooden crosses stood for those that gave back to others. The hooker just lived her life her way and didnt care enough to have a little faith to see the hope that stood knocking at the door. This paints a picture of many many many peoples lives today.

I like the song b/c it shows the preacher bringing hope with good news and then everybody begins to wonder what happened to the hooker after the accident b/c there's only 3 wooden crosses and not 4 on the right side of the highway. Powerful message very powerful.

You never call me by my name :csad:

Well, I was drunk the day my Mom got out of prison,
And I went to pick her up in the rain,
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck,
She got runned over by a damned old train. :csad:

Essentially, when it comes to country--if it isn't Johnny Cash, it sucks.

To quote the SNL skit, "WRONG!".

:D

I'm telling you guys, just listen to Hoyt Axton. Hes awesome. Do it.

I'm not much on country music. If it ain't Johnny Cash, I don't pay much attention to it. I have a friend who listens to country and rap (Yeah, those two pretty much exclusively... very odd mix I always thought), and every now and then I'll hear a good country song from him because he steers away from what he calls "pop country", which I'm guessing is Garth Brooks and such. I don't know enough about country to really know.

Anyway, my favorite non-Cash country song is "Dick In Dixie" by Hank Williams III.

i listen to it when i'm stressed out of school or just driving on long trips to the hunting camp or fishing camp.

Not a big country music fan but I always like - A country boy can survive - by Hank Williams Jr.
