Hahaha. I'm with ya man. I mean i would've gone out and canceled my 360 order and placed it on the PS3 version no prob, but i just want to go with the 360 due to Live. Still, i WILL be playing this game come June 16th. Its been delayed once and i will not wait any longer.

This SUCKS for me since I'm in Europe. I want the game for the 360 because of the controler and because most of my friends, including my brother, have a 360 and will all play on LIVE together. I don't know if I can wait though.

Yea man, i would of been in that same boat as i dont have many PS3 friends. I would have bought it for PS3 then maybe traded it in for the 360 version when it came out. There is NO way i would be able to wait. I would of gotten the PS3 version without hesitation.

Im not surprised about the timed exclusivity for the PS3. I was more surprised that it was even going to the 360 and WII in the first place considering Sony owns the Ghostbuster IP

That brings up a point that I was wondering about from the beginning. Even though Sony mostly keeps their film and video game departments separate, but this whole fiasco today shows that they don't have to be. I mean Sony is a whole first, sections second.

I guess Sony films just knows they can make more money from this on a multiplatformed basis and the game side kicked and *****ed for this to happen or something.

It would be all fine and dandy if Sony made that decision from the get go, but, when Terminal Reality made the game with multiplatform in mind, when everyone involved since it was at Sierra to being bought by Atari made it for every gaming platform under the sun, it becames a really stupid move by Sony.
It´s like Sony robbed the game from everyone, it´s like Sony made an exclusive...without actually making it.

But, now that it´s sorted out, i´m less mad with Sony

Sony does own the movie rights, but not the gaming one.
If it did, the game would never started at Sierra, and then bought by Atari.
But don´t ask me why, i have no clue.

They didn't rob anybody of anything. They are not taking out any versions of the game, they are just coming a few months later then the PS3/PS2 versions in one region. Sure, it's a crappy move, but those versions are still very much coming out.

And, really, it's no stupider then any other timed exclusive for a game that was intended for multiplatform release. Bioshock, Vesperia, and Star Ocean, I don't see how it's any dumber then all that crap. The only difference is MS is more sneaky about it when they do it. Sony just blotched it from a PR POV, but they're experts at doing that

As I said I wouldn't be surprised if Sony probably would have done something similar from the get go, but the two sides either couldn't agree or Sony didn't realize there would be as much anticapation and hype for the game as there ended up being

Atari and Sierra had contract rights to publish the game from Sony. Sony does have full rights to the Ghostbusters franchise, they can license it out to whoever, but they own it all through Columbia.

This is different than lets say Spider-man. Sony owns the liscense to the movies but the SM IP is owned by Marvel therefore they can give gaming rights to whomever they want. Its different with Ghostbusters bc Sony doesnt just have the movie rights....it's their franchise. If they wanted to give the game to one of their studios to create, they could have. Instead they outsourced it to a 3rd party for a multiplatform release.

I guess you missed the part where i said : "But, now that it´s sorted out, i´m less mad with Sony"

Oh man... you guys I am so sorry if this really happens. Why must there be so many casualties in the Console Wars? 360 gets Turtles in Time remake, but Sony gets Ghostbusters first. Why can't we all just get along? So glad to have my PS3.

Oh I didn't read everything, I see it's still coming to the US on time. Hooray for the USA! Lame decision anyway.

Yeah, but you still said all the stuff before. Were you saying that no longer applies or something:huh:

I think the fans can get along ok. Well, the rational ones anyway. Seems to be the companies that can't:cwink:

Though, I will say, we haven't see an official release from Konami about Turtles, so there's still hope for a PSN, albeit a slim one, but still...

I dont really care. There's only so much complaining and getting upset a person can do, especially over things you cant control. It is what it is

Yeah, it doesn´t apply anymore, now that we know that the game is no longer Sony exclusive in Europe.
I don´t really mind waiting for the game, in fact, i might buy a PS3 anyway (but not because of Ghostbusters)

Oh, ok, my bad I misread

Yeah, but this the internet. What else can we do, talk about dog breeds? I don't know much about that

I just wish there was no such thing as exclusives. I know it's a silly dream, but it's just lame.

But we can all put this behind us and focus on the great game to come.

I was never surprised by that. From the second i heard about the game, i knew it wasn't going to be a Sony exclusive. Even after Activision dropped it, I knew it'd come out on every console made. The franchise is just too big, and before you say thats the reason for exclusives, its not in this case. This game wouldn't move consoles as its just not an established 'game' franchise the way a Grand Theft Auto or Metal Gear Solid is. People who have enjoyed the movies, will most likely run out and pick this up if they have the system it releases on, but other than the die hard GB fan, i don't see them running out to get a PS3 if the game were to be exclusive. I'm sure Sony thought about an exclusive, but they could see it'd be better for their wallet to go multiplat.

But this is why i own both consoles. There is never a game coming out that i wont be able to get.

That is pretty much my outlook on console games as well. If you can afford it, why not have both systems? Your always covered when it comes to exclusives.

Yea, i had all the systems last gen for pretty much the same reason. Its been the same this gen but i have no desire to own a Wii.

Anbody here doing anything fun for the release of the game? I know it's not like a movie, but then again, when was the last time a new officially canon GB story came out :cwink:

For anyone in the Phoenix-ish area, the AZGBs are hosting a Game release party, with food, fun, both movies and of course the game. All proceeds go to the Salvation Army. If you're game (haha, game :woot:), stop by and check it out:

PS
In that bottom group shot, I'm 2nd from the right :woot: Our group does charity work mostly, visiting kids hospitals, doing cancer walks, other things like that, but it's GHOSTBUSTERS THE VIDEO GAME, practically GB 2 1/2. How could we not do something?!

It'll be funny if the PS2 version sells more then the PS3 one& remember guys the lame Sony deal is only for Europe

That event sounds really fun. If i was in Arizona, id be there.

Hey, man, that is awesome. Looks like you guys are doing a lot of very worthwhile charity. Keep up the good work. I wish I was in Arizona for the event. I hope they do a midnight release for the game for all the stores
