Apparently a new Ghostbusters game is in the works. It appears to be a downloadable game over the PSN and XBL. It will feature 4 player online/local gameplay and ull get to drive the Ecto 3

The downside? It doesn't appear as tho the orig cast will return.

A sequel to 2009's Ghostbusters: The Video Game is in development.

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is set for release in Spring 2011, but this time instead of being a full retail game, it will be released as a downloadable title on PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and Windows PC. Players will again take the role of the same rookie hired in the first game.

USA Today got the first look at the downloadable game. While not many details were revealed, we do know Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime includes four-player local or online gameplay, proton packs and gigantic bosses. Players will also finally be able to drive the Ecto-3, too.

There is one major downside, though. According to the report, none of the actors from the films, such as Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, will appear in the game.

Development is being handled by Wanako Studios, a Chilean game studio who last developed Assault Heroes 2 for Xbox Live Arcade.

i don't know how to feel about this because i really loved the first game. but seeing as how the original developers and cast/writters are not doing this game, i think it will be a pretty crappy sequel.

the best thing they could have done is to make it a Real Ghostbusters game. i bet the voice cast from that show would have been down to come back and it would have been the very first game to be based on that awesome cartoon :yay:

Yea im kind of in the same boat. But not so much because the orig cast isnt returning(which does suck, dont get me wrong), but because it seems as tho the game will be a top down adventure game instead of the 3rd person title we got last time. I mean i would of loved a direct sequel that picked up where the last game left off, with the Rookie now owner of his own Ghostbusters franchise in Chicago, but id of liked it if they kept it the same style. The last Ghostbusters video game is one of my all time favorite games due to the fact that the game made you feel like you were a Ghostbuster. Ill keep my eye on this, but im not getting my hopes too high.

Oh, well, I may get it, I don't know

Yea, at this early point i think itll come down to its price. I guess i just need to hear and see more about it. But im a huge Ghostbusters fan so anything Ghostbusters related, im generally interested in.

I still need to play the other game that came out about a year or so ago. Was that one worth getting????

Definitely. Especially now that you can get it dirt-cheap.

They're taking a cue from the old GB arcade game that came out via Data East it looks like.

I think it's pretty cool that it's done it in more of an x-men legends style. I wonder if you can do single player and take your pick of which character you want to play. Maybe it's not even the original 4 in this one, maybe it's a sequel-ish thing with a whole new team (the rookie's new squad in L.A.? Maybe that's why the original GB voices weren't needed) I was a little dissappointed at first that this seemed like more of an inbetween game than a full on sequel, but chances are since atari has rights to making any and all GB games coming up, they probably had plans for a sequel to the first game, and to make one based on the upcoming film. Now that the movie is really picking up steam, they probably thought and decided to put alot more focus into the GB3 game, since they would most likely have to get the original actors back, plus whoever the new kids are (imagine the way Alfred talked to Batman in the Batman Begins game, only the original GBs talking to the new ones in the field...). This way, they can kinda have their cake and eat it too. Something that will hold us over sufficiently until GB3 the game.

Also: Epic Ecto-4WD is EPIC. GB hummer for the win.

So, count me excited. When was the last time fans of Ghostbusters had this much to look forward too?

:awesome:

Like Soapy said, absolutely. I thought it was a fantastic tribute the the orig movies. Being able to bust ghosts with the orig cast was too much fun. The developers did a great job of making you feel like you were a part of the team. Great fan service all around and just a really fun game for Ghostbusters fans.

I was so excited for this until I actually saw what it was.

This blows, I've been waiting for a true sequel to the first game.

Oh well, I'm downloading this for sure just because I'm a Ghostbuster fanatic.

This reminds me of Gauntlet.

EGON SPENGLER NEEDS FOOD BADLY.

It'll be something fun to play online co-op with.

Hmmm, I love Ghostbusters so I'll probably get this. But like everyone is saying, it sucks that this isn't a direct sequel. At least GB is getting some time back in the spotlight.

Like someone said, without the movie cast (and a proper development team) this might have been better off as a The Real Ghostbusters game. Which I would have loved as I just bought that Real Ghostbusters box set from Time Warner, which is awesome.

Original cast or not this is a direct sequel to the game since we are the same rookie who is probably head of a Ghostbusters Head Quarters somewhere. I will wait & see what this game looks like before I say no to it

Yea it's been confirmed that you are controlling the rookie again, most likely as the lead of your own franchise.

Still bummed it's not in the same style of the previous game. Loved that damn game.

I'll get it, who knows... may branch off into a proper sequel if sales are good they'll see people are still interested.

...Is it wrong for me to also want a Real Ghostbusters Game... ?

I rather have a proper sequel to Ghostbusters: The Video game than a Real Ghostbusters video game.

I want both. :( Facing off against the Boogieman or JackOLantern would be awesome.

hopefully it wont be as broke as the first,i'm still missing payday and gozers most wanted because the patch glitched them
