The Official Green Arrow Movie Thread

He plays goofy well, but serious badly. Loved him in Alias and some of the movies he's done but only when he was comedic relief or straight up comedy. Plus he has a very goofy look to him as well... would never be able to pull off the swashbuckler look GA needs.

And yes, Antonello... caring. First of all, it was his sidekick Speedy that did the drugs... not his son. Second of all, he had a very strong emotional reaction when it was discovered that Speedy was doing drugs. Third of all, that was twenty or more years ago when they did that.

Now, Oliver Queen is a very strong, protective, and caring father. He's reunited with his long lost son Connor Hawk, who was the second Green Arrow when his father died. He adopted the young, HIV+ prostitute Mia Dearden... got her out of prostitution, off the streets, and into a good and loving family. She also became the new Speedy as his sidekick, alongside Connor who fights with his dad as well. With the family having Black Canary as a strong female mother figure, Oliver fights to protect his family at all costs.

That's the Green Arrow that needs to be portrayed if he gets a film made. Period.

Speedy was his surrogate son, even though at the time he was busy traveling the USA with GL and BC and he didn't spend that much time with Roy. I like the character because he can be both an ******* and a great guy.

Bradley Cooper is Guy Gardner.

Guy Gardner happens to be my favorite Green Lantern.

Count me as a Holloway supporter. He has the intensity and grit needed for GA, but also the charming and suave qualities for Ollie as well. Plus he looks identical to the character, down to the hair.

I wouldn't say "no" to Cooper either, but I agree with the post above that I'd rather see him as Guy Gardner eventually.

I thought of something last night... the only thing with Holloway is that there would be a good possiblity he'd actually turn the role down if offered to him. Because of Oliver Queen's origins into becoming Green Arrow.... the whole "stranded on an island" thing. He might think it's too repetetive for himself.

possible who knows, he was offered the gambit role if i recall for wolverine and turned it done due to simular reasons u stated above(minus island deal).

Neal McDonough on the project:

Finally, the Green Arrow is my favorite superhero of all time and I thought you were perfectly cast to voice him in the DC Showcase Animated short film that you worked on. I also think you would be a perfect choice to play him in a live action film, has there ever been any serious discussion about that? Is that something you would be interested in doing?

McDonough: Yeah that (animated short) was awesome wasn’t it? Yeah we talked about a live action version but unfortunately the other two green movies (Green Hornet, and Green Lantern) may have put a stop to it, who knows? We’re not sure. But Green Arrow is a character that is just so funny, and has such a dry sense of humor but is still a bad ass at the same time. I think of all the green superheroes, and now offense but even Hulk included, I think there is something about Green Arrow being such a smart ass and yet such a big tough guy. He only uses arrows but the way he uses those arrows is pretty amazing. I think it would be an awesome film to do and ultimately hopefully we’ll get around to doing it.

I know it may sound weird, but I could actually see Neal McDonough in a SUPERMAX movie. Throw a goatee on 'em and I think he could really pull it off. I've always imagined the movie Green Arrow to be an older and more seasoned character (with flashbacks of when he was young stranded on the island).
