The character development wasn't needed. One can imagine Bond getting his "solace" sometime between the boat scene and the ending with Mr White. We were not given any time window between the scenes, it could've taken place an year from Vesper's death.

If Bond 23 ditches Quantum, it would be like QoS never happened.

I didn't hate it but, jesus, was it boring. Especially after taking into account it was a direct sequel to Casino Royale. If felt like you were watching Bond take two steps backwards in his character development

And they put him up against the evil, scary.....Roman Polanski....!

Within the first 10 minutes, I hated it. When I realized I couldn't tell which warm body in the action scene was Bond, I was pissed. And then after that, it was boring as hell. After one of the best Bond movies ever made, it was a huge slap in the face.

He is still somewhat of a legend in the Bond pantheon. He has earned the right to say whatever about Bond after Goldeneye and Casino Royale.

No one has earned the right to trash another director after turning out this turd of a movie. And Casino Royale is by far my favorite Bond film.

I don't like when people in the biz publically bash eachother.

That CR follow up was s**t though. It was a huge disappointment in every way.

He didn't trash the director. He called the film lousy.

He's allowed to have his opinion on it. I don't see what is wrong with saying he didn't like it.

Bond didn't need development in QoS really. It was basically a straight up revenge flick.

My problem with it was the editing was awful and the villain was lamer than a three legged dog. Put Vincent Cassell in there and he would have been better.

The scene at the opera where Bond is eaves dropping is amazing though.

No. He didn't call out Forster explicitly.

That's true, but if you're saying a movie is horrible then you're not saying the director did a good job. "That movie was terrible but the director did a great job."

Nothing wrong with giving his opinion, my problem is the timing of it.

It is bad to say that when his new film is not doing well, but he was asked about it. I appreciate his being honest.

It wasn't a direct insult. I don't think he has animosity towards Marc Forster. Quantum is a Bond film. We know how producer driven those are. Sometimes they turn out bad in spite of the director.

I agree with you. I don't think he was intentionally trying to insult the director. I do think it can be taken that way, I would take it that way I guess.

I think it was more of an opportunity to deflect on Green Lantern if anything, so he did.

Bad timing, kind of unprofessional just because of the timing. Better answer might have been. I'm sure hes been asked that question before and gave a more gentlemanly answer. On the other hand, its not THAT big of a deal.

No, it is not nearly as unprofessional as what happened with Vaughn and Ratner.

Yeah, and after the greatness that was Eva Green in CR, I found the Bond girls in QoS to be very lackluster and bored. I'm hoping the next Bond would rediscover the winning formula from CR and excite us on Bond again.

Again, this isn't about the problems with QoS, which there are multiple. I'm only commenting on the irony of Campbell callng another movie lousy when his own turd stinks so bad, he ought to be embarassed to be associated with it.

Only my opinion here, but I don't think so. If he had commented on another superhero movie (Hulk, Daredevil, even Dark Knight), then yes, it would be ironic and silly. But Campbell is the director who successfully relaunched the Bond franchise not once but twice in our generation. For all intents and purposes he is the go-to man for Bond films, and I take him opinions on the franchise to heart.

I've seen other directors say another film is bad before...hell, favs indiscreetly crapped on SM3 last year iirc.
