Am I the only person who thought FF2 was better than the first one?

I thought FF2 was an improvement with a lot more memorable parts. I liked the Silver Surfer and I even liked the power swapping parts. Galactus was one of the main bones of contention along with lame action like the 4 vs a Ferris wheel.

No, I thought it was much improved on the first film. Those are hated on pretty heavily as well but they are guilty pleasures for me and I like watching them.

No, I think that's the majority opinion. At least it was when FF2 came out. Personally I think the second took the first's problems and amplified them tenfold but I'm pretty sure my opinion is the minority.

represents bad comic book films, I get the feeling GL is somewhere around X1, which isn't so impressive post 10 from when this stuff was fresh.

why do I get the feeling that GL isn't being given a fair shake.

So... just got back from watching the film. It was ok. I was expecting little from Oa, but I didn't think it was going to be that little...

It was enjoyable at best. Dragged a bit here and there... as for some who said it was better then Superman Returns, in the other thread. I don't think so at all. Green Lantern had way more problems then Superman Returns.... but then again, I guess I just enjoy Superman as a character more. I don't know.

Still, I give it a 7/10... Hopefully if they make a 2nd, it will easily surpass this one.

Don't know. It's something I'll never understand. I think most enjoy it and I have a hunch that those on the Hype who claim to flat out hate it have never actually watched it.

hard to say, I think it just missed it's opportunity the first time.
plus the lack of the gamma bomb made it look like a glorified TV show.

Incredible. For me Green Lantern has passed Superman Returns as the most disappointing superhero movie I've ever seen. With Superman Returns, they at least were trying, but this....this is garbage.

I'm glad that there was no Stewart cameo, it would likely have been an "unknown" cast.. eventually they can have a name actor..

..I wanted the movie to be longer- at least 2.5 hours.. I wanted to see a lot more training.. it seems like Hal had, what, all of 10 minutes worth? heh..

I'm unhip to Hector Hammond's history.. really, all of GL's rogues except Sinestro from the toons.. so what all can HH do in the comics? was he even a prominent foe?

were the Guardians all-cgi or were there motion capture actors?

..the 'Hot Wheels Rescue' sequence was cute, but I wonder was that also product placement?

I'm still not quite sold on the body-suit-energy-sinews approach to the outfit, but on screen it finally looked better than the early teaser..

..I wish we had seen more of the Checkmate operation (?), I'm surprised that Waller wasn't given a sequence of "okay what do we do about this Captain Green?"

the epilogue with Sinestro and the ring.. hmm... was he just trying it on for size? was he jealous that Hal stopped Parallax and wanted a power boost? I guess we'll have to wait until part 2 to see how it is developed..

Next film, I also want to see the Red Lanterns..

I guess Alan Scott never existed here.. not that it was totally unexpected.. but could have been intriguing with an easter egg..

Here's the thing about "character development" with regards to GL- Hal is basically a one trick pony. Always has been. All the changes he's been through have been story driven. He is the same hot shot he always was. The film reflects that from the comics. Carol is much the same (fairly one dimensional). Sinestro is far more compelling as a character.

I don't know that the filmmakers could have put much more character development in than they did. The "Uncle Hal" bit was forced in as an attempt at this sort of thing. Hal Jordan is a hot headed, somewhat cocky GL. That's it. He learns responsibility as a hero, not so much as a person. Just some quick thoughts...

after the first hump of acceptance, do heroes actually change/develop over time out side of plot events like death of superman or something.
I just figured they were like their costumes, once established that's is.

It absolutely is NOT being given a fair shake, at least by the majority of film critics. I watched it tonight. It's not a great movie, but it is a GOOD movie.

It needed to show some of the character growth more and some of the scenes felt a bit rushed to me. BUT as I told someone else, I get the feeling there's like 20 minutes of great material on the cutting room floor. I keep thinking "Green Lantern: Directors Cut" is going to be so much better than the theatrical release.

That said, even if I'm wrong about that, I still had a great time watching this flick and yeah, I hope it has a sequel.

Seems to be mixed. A bunch hated it, more liked it, few loved it.

If you check the "rate Green Lantern" thread, it seems the majority of folks here are rating it between 8 and 6 out of 10. so I'd say it's fairly well liked with some very loud detractors.

I had a lot of fun tonight watching this. I don't get the hate it's receiving. Sure some things could have been expanded on but comparing this to FF seems unfounded. Also the visuals looked great. Some people are saying it looked 90s or like a sci fi original , ok, lol.

Out of the entire crowd at my theater I did hear one guy bashing it walking out , his gf said , why is [BLACKOUT]Sinestro bad all the sudden[/BLACKOUT].
He retorted " It didn't lead into it or anything else for that matter". That guy was upset ,lol. However most everyone else seemed pleased.

Overall I enjoyed it , will purchase the blu ray , I'm excited about the upcoming animated series, and hope there's a chance for a sequel. Also there was minor things I didn't like but I would never put this near a list of the worst comic film adaptations.

He can do everything he did in this film. He's a telepath and a telekinetic. He's kind of a relic of the Silver Age, and doesn't ever do really do anything but use that to amass wealth and power on some level, and seek revenge on Green Lantern and act superior to others. He's one of Hal's longrunning villains, but he's not a terribly effective or deep one, at least historically he hasn't been, even when Geoff Johns tried to reinvent him a bit. At various point he ends up as a vegetable with a giant head who can use his powers to make others do things but can't move himself around very well because of the size of his head (seriously). He's kind of subject to the whims of whatever writer is using him...he tends to evolve a bit depending on the storyline, but never into anything particularly memorable or lasting.
