The Official Man of Steel Blu Ray Thread

I just got the regular blu ray from amazon, since I realized I will probably be rebuying this film down the road on some sort of uber limited set.

Is this on the Journey of Discovery extra? Because I don't recall seeing this...

Yes, I watched it last nhght and that was awesome.

So weird question guys to the people that bought the target blu-ray I think they made a huge mistake but I have a The Hobbit extra on my main disc (that has the film on it) called New Zealand: Home of Middle-earth I started watching it and it's flat out an extra that should be on The Hobbit blu-ray .

I assume this isn't supposed to be on here considering it's not in any relation to Man of Steel, but I was wondering if any of you guys had it on your copy as well.

Same here.

Guys. I'm very confused. I've bought the big man of steel Gift set (with absolutely every disc available for the movie included). And I CAN'T find the "journey of discovery" featurette anywhere? Where is it? :-(

And am I the only one who's actually kinda disappointed over the lack of stuff to be found on this blu ray? I was truly hoping for a genuine in-depth 1 hour featurette, like "The making of Man of Steel". I for one absolutely hate Star Wars Episode I. But that dvd had an amazing extra, called "The beginning", which was an in-depth making of, right from post production all the way up to the release of the film in theaters. It was truly great, and I wished more movies had something similar in their extras. I was really hoping for something just as great for MOS. But I was very much let down by the lack of that stuff :-(

Journey of Discovery (which is the making of documentary...while you watch the film) is on the special features disc. It should be disc two.

:exp:

So I ordered the Target exclusive a month ago but yesterday I received a regular Blu-ray instead! I then went a good distance out of my way to get it at the store but of course it was SOLD OUT despite the fact that is it listed as IN STOCK online AND in the store's computer.

But wait, there's more! It is of course SOLD OUT online as well AND they have no idea when they are getting more in stock AND lack the capability to to notify me when it's available... on top of being unable to fill and order correctly.

So now, I am stuck with a Blu-ray that I can't watch and have no idea when I'll be able to get what I actually paid for!

So much for pre-orders...

Apparently lots of people have been getting the standard bluray version of Man Of Steel when they ordered the digibook version from Target.com. Seems that both the standard version & digibook version carry the same SKU in Target's computer system.

That's really crappy to hear, I learned not to pre-order after a debacle with Amazon for TDKR blu-ray, forget waiting for the mailman I'd rather walk into the store the minute it opens and have the right mind of knowing I'm getting exactly what I want.

You mean like the one of 10,000 S-glyph steel case that is amazing? I don't think we will get anything better than that. It's awesome. You missed out because they probably will resell for stupid amounts.

How long is Journey to Discovery, anyone?

^ Journey to Discovery is supposedly you watching the whole movie just w/ the documentary playing with it. (someone correct me if I'm wrong). So it'd be the whole movie.

I plan to watch that tonight.

I don't really care for the fancy shmancy packaging all I care for is bonus exclusive content so if maybe someone can breakdown for me what places like Target, Walmart, Best Buy have what?

I got the Best Buy version. Which should be the most regular version there is. Standard.

Special features are pretty norm. There's a feature on the casting/characters, the stunts/action, describing krypton and it's aesthetics, location shoots?, and a feature where you watch the movie with zack snyder talking about the making of the movie. Which is pretty much the doc I think.

Couple more features but that's most of it on the standard blu-ray.

Ah I just checked back a few pages to see what exclusives there are, now my minds made up.

Target's exclusive is a digibook that's a truncated version of Inside the Legendary World of Superman book that was released early this year. It has 30 minutes of exclusive on-disc content called "X-Ray Vision", which is broken up into five small featurettes that look at specific sequences in the film. They're just okay.

Walmart has an exclusive steelbook packaging of the set that comes with 32 minutes of exclusive on-disc content. "The Iconic Characters of Man of Steel" gets into the motivations of the actors while delving into their roles. "The Sonic Landscape of Man of Steel" gets into Hans Zimmer work on the score. These featurettes are very good. They accompany the regular featurettes very, very well.

As awesome as those sound, I'm happy for not having to step foot in a Wal-Mart to get them, no thanks to that.

That makes me feel somewhat better. Now, let's hope my fiancee can grab one for me on her way home...

I'm from Europe and I got a very very standard Blu ray (here in italy wb released like nothing)..1 disc only with movie and very poor extras..Characters, All-out action and Krypton decoded..do you think that the "Journey" extra could leak online? Here I could watch it online with the code inside the case..But I wanted a "physical" file you know :yay:

It cannot. It is a maximum mode. That's one of the reasons they do these kind of documentaries, because these can't be pirated.

It has to be a way to rip those kind of things into one file..or not?

Do you have them both?

Got the Target Digibook yesterday, but after hearing about the Limited Edition Collectors S-glyph tin underpriced for $25 at Wal Mart, I just had to double-dip for the first time and go and snag it up. Couldn't pass that up if I had the chance.

Got there and they weren't where the movies were in electronics, but for people going to get it, check the side isles and in-between spaces and what-not, there's a few MOS displays around the store and that's where about, 3 of the Limited Edition tins where. Looks like a good amount of the movie is picked over in some slots (the lady at checkout said she checked out 3 of the other tins today.) Sure enough, there was the S glyph tin for $25. Just can't beat that:

I saw MOS in digital 4 of my 6 theatre viewings (2D not 3D) and those digital viewings were crystal clear.

Some complained about "shaky cam" and the blirring that occured when Snyder did those snap zooms. I was wondering what people were commenting on until I saw the film in a standard theatre. Now that it's on BLU did anyone who noticed "shaky cam" or the like find that in a digital format that those things aren't present?
