X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

Hope the MCU gives Betsy some more shine this go round. Give Jean a break and let Psylocke be the team’s resident telepath (outside of Xavier).

I'm curious if they're willing to even touch Betsy Braddock. Personally, I think the best option would be to just make her a British Asian from the get-go but no matter what they do, it will end up being controversial.

Yup thats the way to go.

I don't want to see Kwannon as the default MCU Psylocke.

Is that leaked post-credit scene real? It looks like it.
If so, we finally saw how Beast looks like in the MCU. Did you guys like it?

i like that they're trying to be as comic accurate as possible with the looks of the X-Men

That scene is the highlight of the MCU this year. The Beast looks so freakinnnng good!

:bst:

Say what you want about Marvel Studios but I love how they give respect to those who came before the 1st mcu film - by letting them join into their world. Marvel Studios has gotten so big, that they don't really need to bring back the non-MCU actors but they still did. Tobey, Andrew, the 5 villains from Spider-Man movies, Sir Patrick and now Kelsey....

There's just a joy seeing these actors back on the big screen after such a long time. I still remember that 3 second scene of Kelsey in Dofp that made the audience giggle. I was a teenager when X3 came out and Beast was the best addition to the X-Men in that film. And now this, another og X-Men finally interacting with MCU characters... what a ride!

They're playing the John Ottman X-Men theme in the end credit scene :swoon: That's a lovely surprise.
That just seems desperate. I hate that they used the iconic X-Men theme for such a garbage movie

I saw the clip and I love that kelsey is back because I love the OG X-Men films, but I must say the over use of CGI is a little off putting when we had practical outfits 17 years ago. But it's still cool.

I saw in low quality. I think it's overall nice, but it does not seem to be Thanos/Hulk level (but again I saw in low quality). In terms of face, I think I like the X3 one better.

I liked Beast’s design, but the execution, like a lot of things Marvel lately, left a lot to be desired.

Seeing Beast and hearing the X-Men theme by John Ottman totally got me but I'm really wondering how they'll pivot to a completely new cast after seemingly making the Foxverse cast part of the Multiverse story (including the next two Avengers movies). You would think that they'd try to stay as far away as possible from the Foxverse cast if they have plans to make their own X-Men down the line

So how much do you guys expect we'll actually see of the X-men in DP3? I hope it's more than just a cameo and that they don't get killed off. Ideally DP3 would be to the Fox movies what NWH was for the Sony Spider-man movies, giving the pre-MCU X-men some good character moments and a proper sendoff. But after what happened to the X-Force in DP2, and with so many people speculating we'll get some sort of "Deadpool Kills the Fox Universe" nonsense, I can't help but be concerned.

Also is this Beast actually supposed to be the Fox version? He seems a lot more like the classic style compared to X3. I guess it's like Colossus. DP never really matched up with the Fox X-men movies. Still, it's kind of weird to think that an identical version of Maria Rambeau exists in the Fox universe. Is she a mutant in that universe? Or did that universe start having non-mutant superpowered individuals pop up? If so, wonder how that played out.

Hopefully a lot!

Deadpool the character isn't interesting enough for me.

The post-credit scene was worth the price of admission. (movie was fun, nothing crazy).

But THAT is the Beast I've wanted to see since the beginning. His size, build, tone and speech was straight out of the comic. Really made me realize how they massacred my boy over the First Class series.

I loved it so much. Exactly as you say, perfect for me.

Always good to see Kelsey Grammer. I loved the prosthetics used in X3, but this was a great showing for the character. Lab coat, running tests in a lab…all great. And what was the line, “Confusion…the first step towards discovery”? Just classic McCoy.

Just funny but now, technically, all three of Kelsey Grammer’s appearances/performances as Beast have been in different timelines/realities—X3, the reset future of DOFP, and now this new (maybe animated series inspired?) universe.

I would love love love to see more Grammer and the other actors from the Fox films thrown in for this multiverse stuff, beyond Deadpool 3.

I agree with the consensus for this Beast. This was the Beast look I wanted from the very beginning. Maybe it had something to do with quality of that movie itself but I never liked Kelsey's Beast in X-Men The Last Stand, his screentime, his role, his line readings, HIS MAKEUP. Kelsey's DOFP make up was only slightly better. The less said about any of Nick Hoult's make up in any of the prequel movies, the better.

This The Marvels Beast was perfect. I did wish Monica reacted to this blue furry figure negatively. I get that she was traumatized what happened to her earlier, not to mention seeing her dead mom but there's a friggen talking blue furry monkey in a lab coat. Perfect opportunity for him to answer her eventual "Wtf are you?" facial expression with "I'm Dr. Hank McCoy!"

The original cast is just iconic.
Obvious CGI aside (I didnt mind that much), Beast looked awesome! So so so happy Kelsey is back. Marvel and Feige: thank u! This is how Beast should have always looked, straight from the comics, just perfect and on his lab, classic 90s show/comics. Now I just CANT wait to see the other X-Men next year :mindblown::loving:

I'm gonna disagree with that. Nothing beyond Deadpool 3. As eager as everyone has been since the Fox acquisition about finally getting fresh faces and a new start for the X-Men, all of a sudden it's 'Can the Fox actors actually stick around for more? Like, pick one. Do people want a fresh start with the X-Men in the MCU, or want to just stay stuck in the past? Wasn't part of the reason folks were so excited for the acquisition was because they'd grown tired of the Fox cast and those movies and wanted something new? I don't hear anyone clamoring for Jessica Alba or Michael Chiklis to be the MCU's Sue Storm or Ben Grimm.

Lol well I’d argue that Jessica Alba’s casting as Sue Storm was never as beloved as some of the X-Men characters.

If we’re doing the multiverse; might as well take advantage of it. Introduce the MCU X-Men in a post Secret Wars world where mutants and heroes have coexisted since the beginning, and recast popular characters as needed.

The answer could be both.
As I mentioned, that post-credit scene FINALLY gave me the Beast I've wanted to see after 5 (five!) movie appearances. Giant, furry, hulking, lab coat, science. Everything we barely got in the FOX movies. He just so happens to be voiced by Kelsey Grammer again. To me, that's no problem.

I got a little nostalgic after watching The Marvels and rewatched X3, and while Grammar is the best part of that film, they still have him in politics for some reason. He's always in a suit that makes his head look disproportionate.

I also think it's no coincidence that Beast looks almost identical to the animated series version. I think X-Men '97 will connect in more ways than we realize. And now that Monica is trapped in this universe, I believe this is the central universe that will collide with the MCU. I have a theory that this is also the universe where the Fantastic Four movie will take place, although I think they won't reveal that until a post-credit scene where Beast shows up to discuss the Monica situation with Reed.

I’m still hopeful that Logan from Deadpool 3 and Beast from The Marvels are both from the same universe. But instead of X-Men ‘97, they’re from the reset 2023 future teased at the end of Days of Future Past…

Probably more likely that they’re a live-action continuation of the animated series, but tying them to DOFP would just be tops for a big Fox X-Men fanboy like me lol. The last time the franchise, for me, really showed promise…

Professor X - Patrick Stewart
Logan / Wolverine - Hugh Jackman
Ororo / Storm - Halle Berry
Scott / Cyclops - James Marsden
Jean / Phoenix - Famke Janssen
Hank / Beast - Kelsey Grammer
Rogue - Anna Paquin
Remy / Gambit - Channing Tatum
Bishop - Omar Sy
Maria / Binary - Lashana Lynch
Piotr / Colossus - Stefan Kapičić
Jubilee - ??

(Shadowcat is off with Nightcrawler and Rachel Grey doing Excalibur stuff, and Iceman is somewhere with X-Factor…)

It could even be explained that in 1973, after Logan told Charles that the X-Men will need him (“Scott, Storm, Jean…find them”), Charles really took the baton and ran, creating the X-Men to build towards a reset timeline through today in which the Fox actors had adventures similar/identical to the animated series

Grammer/Beast in The Marvels doesn’t look so far off from the end of DOFP… I think the prosthetics pictured below was the filmmakers‘ attempt to capture classic hair/look:
