X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

Black, but they're all Brazilian.
Cecilia Reyes and Darwin are both from New York. Cecilia Reyes is of Puerto Rican descent, for Darwin I don't think it's known in what way he is Latino. (I don't know who "Beto" is referring to??)

Yes, only Beto is brazilian. Cecília and Darwin are hispanic. She was played by a brazilian actress in the movies tho.

And yes, Beto is Sunspot.

Btw, I'm in favour of casting Afro-Caribbean Blink, since her popular Age of Apocalypse/Exiles version is confirmed Bahamian.

I just dont want seeing x-men from others universes before x-men in main 616 universe

We saw Xavier in 838 before the 616 one, this is an exception. But no more, not for others x-men

Trust me, I wanted Marvel Studios dropping the FOX actors like Leonardo DiCaprio drops a 25 year old girl, but sadly it's not gonna happen. Deadpool and Wolverine are coming next, and with them possibly other characters (Domino, Colossus, maybe Laura). And in Secret Wars the FOX X-Men will probably be there as well.

Ahh, I stand corrected. Got my wires crossed with the Alice Braga portrayel. Still, there is a lack of African-American rep in the X-Men's ranks, especially in prominent roles, and I think that's a problem that needs to be rectified in the MCU version.

But speaking of Latino rep, I do like the idea of Rogue being latina, orphaned from her family, and growing up in the system. I know we talked a lot about wanting to avoid certain stereotypes e.g. "sassy Latina", but I think emphasizing Rogue's development (y'know, into "that" character), would go a long way.

I think Tess Romero (16) would be a great choice in the future. No offense to Keke! @Shinobi Shaw

We already know that MCU Wolverine exist in the MCU world
She Hulk makes reference that a man with metal claws got into a fight in a bar and i doubt that its Jackman Wolverine it would be a disappointment if this reference is to Jackman Wolverine and not the MCU version of Wolverine

The execution and visuals of Blink’s powers in DofP were great. I’d love to see the character again somewhere.

To keep in line with the “protecting a world that fears and hates them”, I still think a human antagonist is the way to go for the first MCU X-Men go round.

That being said, Graydon Creed, come on down.

I want this for sure (continuously growing in the background over multiple films) and a physical threat to test the team too.

I think Jackman coming back is going to end up being a Monkey's Paw type situation. We got Hugh back, in the suit, but at what cost?

I must have missed this but have you guys seen X-Men Anime on Netflix? Good? Will watch regardless but didn’t even know about it till today.

I've known about it for some time (it's over a decade old) but never watched it. From the little bits I've seen it never looked great but let me know if you watch it what you think. I believe it has Armor as a major character, so that's one thing it has going for it at least.

Yeah just saw it’s from 2011 as I was checking for reviews and history. It’s only just over 20 minutes an episode so I plan to steam through it and will let you know.

Great to hear Hisako is in it. Always liked her and would be cool to get her as a student in the MCU films. I imagine there will be at least one young mutant who is just going through the initial process of discovering their powers who the X-Men will have to save at one point and bring to the mansion and school. Would be cool if her.

For me, out of the 4 cartoon Xeries. It is the worst one.

I did like Armor and Emma having a regular role in it, to differentiate it from the other 3 cartoon Xeries.

Welp.

The dream is being reborn LOL.

It never died.

What I think a lot people don't realize, is that the X-Men will be one of our greatest weapons to be utilized in this culture war-- because it's a proxy for any, and all injustices facing marginalized minorities.

And ion think Marvel is gonna be shy about that..

Since we're previously talking about cartoons and black characters, have you guys revisted Evolution?

I think Spike is such a great character and I'll die saying that.

When he's introduced, he's being arrested for something he didn't do and Pietro was maliciously letting him take the blame. Then Storm and the X-Men out him for his family in order to get him to join the school lol... I guess it was fine to out people back then.

When his powers grows out of control he starts to experience bigotry in a different way and he joins the Morlocks, which highlights the X-Men's privilege. He grows to be a leader and starts fighting anti-mutant people to protect mutants.

I'm currently rewatching but still in the beggining, so I don't remember much. But I'm excited to revist his arc. I think if Evolution was created today, maybe he would have a different reception.

Spyke is never going to be appreciated for the simple fact that he was an original character. X-23 on the other hand at least, debuted in the comics years later despite being a Wolverine clone.

They should have just used Marrow in X-Men Evolution.

Given its length and how old it is without me having heard of it I wasn’t expecting it to be anywhere near as good as Animated or Evolution, but sure I’ll get something out of it anyway.

If it's the one I'm thinking of yeah, it was really good. There was a Wolverine one, too. I ended up getting that one on disc for Christmas. :)

I rewatched seasons 1-3 when D+ first came out, and I gotta say, I was kinda shocked by the veiled racism in some of those episodes. I surprised by Xavier's incentive to throw Evan under the bus after he started having problems. The same grace he extended to Rogue, was nowhere to be found for Spyke.

But I did like him, and his whole arc. It was a great way to highlight some of the X-Men's shortcomings, and address those themes of privilege, and being able to "pass".
